Am I too old for LEGO?

on Wednesday, September, 07, 2011 2:10 PM
Well I am 16 and was just wondering if I am too old for collecting LEGO. I like it and all (just spent $70.00 on the new LEGO Star Wars Slave 1 ship ) but was thinking if it is too much of a kids toy and something I shouldn't collect. If any of you have gone through this let me know. At least I don't play on the floor with them (although I do play with the mini figures sometimes). Also if you go to a store to buy LEGO do you feel embarrassed doing it? PLEASE HELP!!!!!

You are never too old for legos. The perception of appropriateness is a function of your peer group.

Many people give up many things because their of what their friends think. where to buy abortion pill ordering abortion pills to be shipped to house buy abortion pill online

You're never too old to have or collect whatever you want. I'm pretty sure there are some here older than you that collect the Tron toys. Nothing to be embarassed about.

Just wait till you're a Dad.. The embarassment factor goes away cause you can say its for the kids. on line abortion pill misoprostol dose abortion medical abortion pill online

At 18, I still build LEGO sets. Particularly the Star Wars sets. When I went to Disneyland(and ElecTRONica) of the winter for my 18th birthday, I spent some time in the big LEGO store. At the time, I wished I had a spare $500 for the Millennium Falcon set. The really complex one. *sigh* Oh well. I haven't managed to get that set, but I may get it in the future. Anyway, no, I don't feel embarrassed about shopping for LEGO sets. Although, I've /never/ been embarrassed about the things I like. I've never really cared about what other people think. Even if I'm trying to impress someone, I won't change my preferences for them. where to buy abortion pill ordering abortion pills to be shipped to house buy abortion pill online

Very good point. Why should I change what I like for someone else? Just be yourself and leave it that way. Aren't the Star Wars LEGO sets great? They are the only ones I really collect. Also if you like those sets you should get the LEGO Star Wars video games. They are the best!

Exactly.

Don't let what others might think bother you. Just be you.

Grammar Nazi all you want, but i think the jury is out on whether Lego can be or should be pluralized. Sheep/Sheep is an artifact of the linguistic complexities wrought by the Normal Invasion of England back in 1066.

I do seem to recall that the specific weirdness of Sheep is a result of language that originated in the "low" countries. I'd have to dig up my linguistics textbooks to follow up on that.

I'm more surprised you didn't call me on the grammatical error including "their" twice.

Also. Not many females will be impressed by your $70.00 Slave One Lego ship. However, you can get Lego sets from Europe for major architectural monument and well-known houses. Last one I saw was a Lego set of Frank Lloyd Wright's "Falling Water." Females that aren't impressed by fine architecture are not worth trying to impress.

The mentality of being too old for Legos (and I call them Legos because just saying Lego sounds weird) is the same one that implies that once you are an adult, you cannot play videogames because apparently they're exclusively for kids and teenagers.

Aw, hell no! Absolutely not!

I've had Legos forever, now I'm a college student, and I still can't get enough!

I was hoping Lego would use the Disney liscense deal to make Tron sets.

On a side: Anyone checked out Lego Universe? It's a pretty fun game. It's like a fun MMO, without the obnoxious grinding.

Didn't see the "their". I will be watching for that next time. Also I don't care to impress females with my Slave 1, but impress myself. If a girl doesn't like sci-fi and my collection of whatever, she is also not worth it. *coughs* Um... I'm a female, and I would certainly be impressed by it. More impressed by it than by the "Falling Water" one. Frankly, fine architecture doesn't impress me much, and I resent that you would think I'm not worth trying to impress because of that. Truth be told, I don't really care for it when people go out of their way to try and impress me. (Not that that happens very often. *thinks* Actually, I don't believe that anyone has ever gone out of his/her way to try and impress me. I'm not sure if that falls under the catagory of 'sad' or not.) Anyway, please watch what you say about worthiness for things. I'm not really offended, but some people might be.

We start out as kids playing with toys. Then we grow up a little and hit an age where we have this childish notion to act "older" in order to impress our peers. Afterwards, we grow up a bit more and realize how childish it is to let others rule your life and you collect and play with toys again to reminisce about your earlier years.

Then you get a real job and have kids and you don't even have time to reminisce.

Just play while you can.order abortion pill abortion pill buy online where to buy abortion pill

In my opinion you're never too old for ANYTHING, everyone needs to be a kid once and a while and enjoy themselves its what keeps up going. Christ I am 28 and I still collect Transformers and change them now and then and just generally have fun, I am not ashamed to admit it because it makes me happy everyone who has ever made fun are always miserable

Same here. I don't care much for "fine architecture", I find it boring. It is nice to know there are females (or anyone) that feel the same. on line abortion pill misoprostol dose abortion medical abortion pill online

Dude, I'm a 16 yr girl and I still have a bed full of teddy bears. And I still have some of my old Sailor Moon Barbies. (lol, i don't play with them, they're just for show.)

Agree with everyone else here. Your're never too old for things like legos. Do what ya want, don't let anyone else tell you it's "childish".order abortion pill morning after pill price where to buy abortion pill

Guys and Gals. That's great. But accept that your very presence here means that you are likely not part of the mainstream peer-pressure group that Treking would be encountering on a daily basis.

If you are, that's awesome. Spend some time with him, and let him become the person that he'd like to be, rather than the person that some peer-pressure will make him into.

Enjoy Tron, Enjoy Star Trek, Enjoy Star Wars. If you can keep the wonder and enjoyment of the world in you heart long after your formal education is complete, then so much the better for all of us.

I've still got some Lego stuff. Last time I bought a set for myself was to get the "Orient Expedition" sets. Awesome stuff for a former Archaeologist. I see there are some new ones and I'm tempted to start buying them again.

YOU NEVER HAVE TO GROW UP. It's amazing how many people still don't realize this.

I mean, let's get something straight. We all have to conform to an extent, unless we enjoy spending every night alone playing with our legos because everyone else thinks we're too weird to hang out with. But who the hell has to know you have legos at home? Shit, even my mom and my partner don't know I have the diecasts. (Though I'll totally own up to my Matchbox space shuttle Atlantis any day, hells yeah.)

Precisely! Anybody who says something like "Poetry? Um.... so did you see what Kim Kardashian got married in???" is someone to walk away from. I don't care what their sex and/or gender is.

I could never in a billion years build it, but it sounds awesome. (impressed but incompetent... does that count? ) Though there are plenty of things that impress me more than architecture.

What do you want? I'm busy.

Program, please!

Chaos.... good news.

While this is a good point, let me just say that of course we are not part of the peer group that Trekking is talking about. But who better to get support from than the group of peers that will guide him right and give him confidence?

As for me, I don't have any LEGOs and I don't plan on getting any. Except maybe for my kids when and if they want them. But I see no reason why anyone can't have them if that is what you enjoy. And no one should tell you otherwise.

I just hope we can give him the support and confidence he was looking for.

My kid loves LEGO. It was a great moment when I passed on my old sets to her. We're talking 30-year old toys here. They held up very well.
