Well, darn.

When I was there this summer, I actually heard people saying that they thought it would be better if it was just the techno thing and took out the Tron stuff. Most of the things that were exclusively Tron-themed (the gaming tournament, Flynn's Arcade, 3D exclusive, etc.) were really not as popular as the main open where the DJ and dancing was.

Quite a shame, though I really can't imagine it being a permanent addition, considering how it was set up. I don't think it's overstayed its welcome at all considering how temporary some of the set-up was.

P.S. If we get a Tron Ride in Tomorrow Land, maybe I won't mind. I still have faith in Disney.

Supposedly there were some rumors a while ago that they were planning on bringing back the PeopleMover, which had a Tron section when it was closed.

I suppose a techno/rave/bar-like atmosphere probably isn't all that kid-friendly, but come on, let the adults have SOMETHING. Besides, Tron is so vastly different from everything else Disney has done that I would think it'd be refreshing to have something a little different. How many times can you look at pretty pink princesses and listen to "It's A Small World" and "A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes" before you go "PLEASE show me something dark and punk-themed and glowy where I can listen to electronica instead of singing mice and drink alcohol. I really can't understand the downside to ElecTRONica. Lots of people probably go there just for dancing/raving/whatever, but when they get tired, they all head to Flynn's and start buying drinks and tokens hand over fist.

If anything they should keep adding better things to it. Take the 3D theater, make it a "Game Grid" with live disc battles, get more games in Flynn's Arcade (Discs of Tron NEEDS to be in there) or something.

Kids dig it just fine, I've seen a few disinterested parents, but that's why there's alcohol, plus Uprising is going to come out meaning it's more relevant than Burton's Alice crap.

That movie came out how long ago?

How is it going to relate to a techno dance environment like Tron:Legacy does?

What do Go-go dancers have to do with an English fairy-tale?

Are there going to be breakdancers dressed up as the Mad Hatter? (That stupid scene is what inspired this, isn't it? Great.)

Who is going to want to go to this? Teeny-boppers who buy the outdated merchandise at Hot Topics? Little girls in princess outfits? What are the dads and teens going to do, wish ElecTRONica was still there?

(EVERYONE will miss the Laser-Man show . . . EVERYONE!)

It really is the only thing different or unique about Disney's line-up. Keep it around, darn-it.

Plus, re-theming it is going to cost alot, (Darkness and easy light fixtures and projections make Tron a pretty easy theme to pull off) How much is a bunch of distorted sets made to look like crappy CGI going to cost?

They're already building a million other things just for the entrance and Cars Land's appeal will only last so long and it also means any Tron related stuff, to be constructed ANYWHERE, is going to get delayed.

In short, California Adventure is undergoing a "re-boot" of sorts right now. Part of that is replacing elecTRONica with a nightly event that combines the most popular elements of elecTRONica and the previous Glow Fest event.

Agreed.

Alice really didn't really do all that well and really hasn't stayed popular. Tron is still going through a ton of new material being made.

OK, whew - so it IS open until the spring? That's at least good to know.

And if so, then my bad for the mis-info. A few weeks ago I was trying to find out if ElecTRONica was going to be open this Halloween, so I Googled it...every article I saw mentioned the upcoming closing, and said it was to be "open thru Labor Day 2011".
So, that's where I got that from.

This is good news if it's open for a few more months, but, still think we should voice our concerns and questions as to their decision to close it.
