Ever wonder what Legacy would have been like if it was written by somebody else and done with a completely different plot? This is the early draft for the script that was written by Richard Jefferies in 2005. It's about an OS by Encom called "X-Net" that's supposed to be 100% secure against viruses, but when it's attacked by the upgraded, corrupted version of Tron, Rush and his virtual team-mates have to stop him from ruining X-Net just days before it launches worldwide.

I think I remember reading this a while ago. Re-reading it makes me think of the recent SOE/PSN attacks.
Kinda wish they kept the part where someone hacks into the Encom mainframe with an Apple Lisa.

I never finished reading it. I mean, to do so, you kinda have to ignore everything in the canon of this universe aside from the first movie, and I guess I have trouble doing that. Also, Richard doesn't really explain certain things that I wish WERE explained. I might have been thinking of a different script, actually. The one I read had Encom developing some program called X-NET that they were going to use to take over the world. The main character would hack into Encom's mainframe with an Apple II and eventually be caught, at which point they would be forced into a digitizing bay and were zapped into the computer as a test subject.
It was very similar to Tron 2.0 in that respect. They also had this comic relief character that sounded like he'd be really annoying.

Hmm, I've never even heard of that script. I'll have to go look it up and see if I can find it.

Here: This is the article I was referring to. When it was published, I copy/pasted the whole thing into word and saved it as a .doc in case it was ever lost or taken down.

It's a review/synopsis of the script, and a really in-depth one, at that. It is NOT the script itself, however.
