Castor is a man?

on Sunday, April, 03, 2011 10:15 PM
Rewatching this scene, and it may have just been a slip up by the writers or Sheen himself, Castor tells Sam that, "as a man who prides himself on staying well informed", why wouldn't the line be "as a program who"? Do programs think of themselves as human? Mirrors of their Users, thus human-like? I just found the line odd if inaccurate. They have an entire society set up there, but is this Flynn's doing or have they evolved their own society over the cycles? Maybe someone who has knowledge of Tron backstory (games, books etc..) can clarify.order abortion pill abortion pill buy online where to buy abortion pill

I have heard this bandied on boards but no one said it was an absolute. He had that mark on his forehead which is covered in the film. And how is it Clu had no knowledge of Zuse looking just like Castor? Had he never met him?where to buy abortion pill abortion types buy abortion pill online

I think the only reason Clu kept him around was that he was a traitor to his own kind, that being the ISOs. Clu must have known there were a few that escaped his purging, and Castor no doubt agreed to rat out his fellow ISOs in exchange to save his own skin.

Once Clu had Flynn's disc however? ISOs sort of lost their importance and he had Castor eliminated.

Aye, keep in mind this system was far more accustomed to interacting with Users on the physical level. Flynn had been in there on and off for years, so they probably picked up on a word or two.

The old ENCOM system had never EVER seen a User before.

Maybe they don't refer to themselves as programs/conscripts/units in Grid 2.0.

I mean do you hear any of us ever say "As a homo sapien...".

This is true. Flynn said "man" all the time. Although it was in slang "radical, man!" "you're ruining my zen thing, man" etc etc etc, soemone was bound to pick up on it, ask about it, or whatever, and when he explained the difference, bada-boom! New Grid lingo.

I wondered the same thing. After all Castor is a bit on the "flamboyant" side.

User897 Wrote:No offense, but I think that's a bit of overanalyzing. His gender, no matter what he is, is male. Saying "man" is not a flub, and who knows, perhaps he said the word since Sam is a User and more familiar with the term. Or, he is just accustomed to saying things a certain way becasue he's an ISO. Be careful with trying to pick things apart. It could turn into ruining the whole experience.

Sorry if I ruined "it" for anyone else. As I have posted before, I love discussing the films with other fans. I'm not trying to step on toes, I am playing devil's advocate much of the time, to try and engender conversation, especially when it gets slow here. Dead boards ruin it for me.

Someone pointed out to me how publicly, he was very flamboyant, but privately, upstairs, he was low keyed, calculating as in planning for Sam's escape (real or not), but when he got the disk, the club was fairly if not totally empty and he was dancing. LOL probably a cool guy to know as long as you didn't need to depend on him.

I guess I didn't notice it either.

I did always wonder, though, how programs referred to themselves. "So I saw this smokin' hot female program the other day"??? "*huge sigh* Male programs, they just don't understand"??? Seems clunky to me. You'd think they'd have some sort of way to refer to sex/gender without using something so formal and stilted sounding as "male/female programs."

What do you want? I'm busy.

Program, please!

Chaos.... good news.
