What movies are worth buying on blu ray?

on Saturday, April, 02, 2011 3:01 PM
I recently got a blu ray player in anticipation of both Tron movies coming out on blu ray, and in building my collection? I noticed that some films aren't even worth the bother of buying on blu ray while some are eye popping.

Example?

2008's Speed Racer looks unbelievable in 1080p and does add a lot of eye candy to the experience, but the original Robocop looks nearly exactly the same as the standard dvd version.

So my question to all you programs out there? What are some good discs to buy that take full advantage of the blu ray format?on line abortion pill misoprostol dose abortion medical abortion pill online

Just movies that you like that have better special features.

All the special features are being put on Blu-Ray so that more people buy it, so I re-bought my BTTF collection just for special features (The ride was on it, SO COOL!)

As for actual titles, the Forbidden Planet Blu-ray is tons of fun. The classic plus other sci-fi films of the 50's all on the same disc. There's a good Metropolis Blu-ray edition too.

I recommend the Blade Runner 5-disc set. It's got three versions of the film, plus a ton of extras, including a Workprint Version. order abortion pill abortion pill buy online where to buy abortion pill

The first Blu-Ray I got when I upgraded was "Unstoppable". I enjoyed that film quite a bit plus it sounds just great on my home theater. Also, I thought the director's cut of "Rambo" (re-titled "John Rambo" in the opening credits) on Blu-Ray was pretty good too, adding some interesting story elements that weren't present in the theatrical version of the film.

As you discovered, sometimes a movie being on Blu-Ray doesn't necessarily mean it's going to be better looking than it was on DVD. I heard Poltergeist looked terrible on Blu-Ray and I'm sure there are countless other examples as well.

i'll say first off, my film tastes are suspect to begin with.
you'll see a pattern rather quickly and my job is why.

the first blu-ray i bought to test drive my system after i tweaked to be useful for color correction was Predators.

i figured it had all the right elements to show off the format:
1.) people of varying ethnicities
2.) nature vistas and high technology
3.) practical and digital special effects
4.) danny trejo's face in 1080p

i'm picky and read reviews and look at full size screenshots of anything i want before i buy.

i have the criterion edition of videodrome, night of the creeps, day of the dead, hellboy 1 and 2, maniac shows off how beautiful even a 16mm film can look in this format.

i'd recommend the walking dead which is a tv show, but the first season can be had for the same price as a movie, and i'd say the show is pretty damn cinematic in tone.
