Judging by the widespread interest in Daft Punk around here, I figure you guys must have a marginal interest in electronic music, so I thought I'd share a bit of my production work here.
My current project is Sick Kitty, a duo consisting of me and my buddy Taylor. We started in 2008 as a gag backstory to a fake documentary we made for a stupid film contest... it was bad, but we stuck with the music. We're gearing up to release our first EP here in the next several months, which should be pretty cool. You can hear some of the un-perfected demo mixes below:
Ocean Ocean This was our first 'real' song. It was originally a chiptune house dealio, but it morphed.
Bedroom Bedroom We did this one after the Superbowl last year. We just finished it up last week with the uke, vocals, clarinet and such.
Mountain Mountain (Year 3000) This one was very special - one of two songs we wrote and produced a demo for in less than two hours. The result was nice, so last summer we went and professionally recorded the vocals and put together a better mix. Still in need of some tweaks, but this is largely what you can expect.
I also do my own stuff under the name of Boba Fettuccini. A lot of my miscellaneous stuff can be heard on that same soundcloud account, but here's a few highlights.
Danger In My Eyes The 80s produced some very interesting pop in Italy. Full of groovy samples you can cut up and make say anything. I've gotten really good feedback on this one so far.
Does It Offend You Yeah? - We Are The Dead (Boba Fettuccini's Coffeehouse Electro Remix) The name speaks for itself. If Starbucks played edgy electronic music, this would be it.
This is what happens when I tackle my record collection and decide to try some hip hop. None of my rhymes do it justice, thus it remains instrumental.
My Contraption Last one - My Contraption. This started as a challenge from a girl I liked to do something with more musical progression and more than one verse. Then she rejected me, and I decided to turn it into the most awesome piece of repetitive disco house I could to spite her. mature, right? What came out was a sort of ironic blend of 2010 top 40 and early 2000s French house with orchestral elements to mix it up a bit. This is far by my biggest track yet. None of its incarnations have done much to impress the chicks though (with the exception of the dubstep version...)
I just thought I'd share, see if anyone was interested. If you like it, you can follow me on my FB page. abortion pills online abortion questions cytotec abortion -==[ www.boba-fettuccini.com ]==- |

Velvet Acid Christ fan eh!?
VAC is one of my favorite bands of all time, I have all of Hexfix's CDs.
Definitely not for the light of heart. VAC is some of the darkest music I have ever listened to.

added you on soundcloud Boba.
i noticed you really like aliased, bitcrushy sounds on your tracks.
it's cool because from what i hear so far kind tosses a variety of soundtypes together
without exactly landing into any specific genre.
although if i may impart one minor complaint:
on my monitors here the mixes are pretty brutal on the top end, maybe a gentle 6db lowpass filter at 12khz to soften it?
reminds me also to get up off my ass and load some stuff into my account,
even more so now that i know at least a few people here in this thread like the harder ebm/industrial dance sound. oddly i used to have stuff up here almost a friggin decade ago, one of which was a tron themed tune. aww yeah making tron music before the rest of the world thought it was cool.
and a random thought, there's gotta be more of us lurking around on this forum, right?
maybe a production thread to share tips and experiences?abortion pills online http://www.kvicksundscupen.se/template/default.aspx?abortion-questions cytotec abortion

Oh, yes, I do. Simple waveforms with a bit of crush and distortion applied can give you some genuinely phhhaaaat sounds.

Something I will experiment with when I render everything up for my summer vocal debut EP. I haven't done a lot with mastering becaus emy resources are limited - not a lot of audio tools, and my studio headphones busted, and I don't have studio monitors like User897 suggested.

I was just wondering about doing DPish schtuff on a budget when I came across this. Any recommendations on cheap software for 0-budget electronic music creating?
I didn't get to listen to the whole playlist yet but I enjoyed what I heard.
Have you by chance done remixes of music from either of the TRON films?

i'm not sure what to tell if you use a mac as i don't use one personally.
if you're on a pc:
Reaper - it's an unrestricted demo and for "amateurs" a license will set you back only 40 bucks. it can handle everything but multitrack instrument recording to full scale plugin based productions. it has a huuuuuge community to help you get started or answer questions.
Audacity - it's a freeware audio editor. use it to chop up dialogue samples, cut a drum loop up into individual hits, etc. i use it to generate custom waveforms to use as oscillators in a synth called circle.
kvraudio.com - it's a gigantic online forum for plugins, giving you access to thousands of freeware synths, drum machines, effects, etc. it has sections for just about every aspect to making music on computers. it's also a nice place for free samples and loops.
if you're planning on DP-esque stuff. i'd say looking for 'virtual analogs' such as minimogue to replicate the older style synth sounds on their tracks. on the effects end, getting filters definately add to that DP vibe.
and just to put my own neck on the block:
http://www.myspace.com/processofeliminationit's 2 older tracks i threw up there after that particular licensing agreement expired.

@Tron Fanatic: For software itself, nothing good comes cheap. Most people recommend FL Studio, but I'd advise against it - the sounds are cheap, and overall it's just a gimmicky toy for middle schoolers to make happy hardcore. If you really actually want good, easy-to-use software that can get you cool results, i recommend Ableton or Acid Pro. Ableton is powerful, and Acid Pro has the most intuitive interface I've ever used.
And depending on which Daft Punk era you want to experiment with, you'll need different tools. Human After All was largely filtered electric guitars and talkbox/vocoder. Discovery is a lot of disco samples, so a few gigs of old disco vinyl rips couldn't go wrong. You'll need some good vintage synth patches for Homework. If you're going for Tron, you'll need a full symphony orchestra and some several thousand dollar Moogs. :B I'd urge you though to try something original. Everyone I know who decides to copy someone else ends up with really unoriginal, bland work that isn't memorable. I'd recommend getting some random sorts of tools together and start messing around and do something that's totally you- I guarantee you it'll be more interesting.

brutal. i've been using FL since 98' and i haven't coughed up a happy hardcore track yet.
my opinion is you shouldn't use the presets from anything period.
every host regardless of price tag at this point pretty much has all the same features,
it mainly comes down to what workflow does it for you and every host has their own little niche.
Acid's visual mix workflow for laying out a song, is one of the main reason's why i enjoy it,
but it has been since been 'replicated' inside FL 10's sequencer and i haven't felt the need to upgrade acid or move it over to my laptop.
i'm amazed at just where music writing technology has even gotten to at this point.
i started in DOS and had zero softsynths or plugins to work with, and yet that workflow is still in use today in programs like renoise and most of the chiptune sequencers.
i guess my suggestion is to demo out a variety and see what works best for you,
as none of us really know how anyone else's mind work creatively.

Well normally I am not one for copying just because I happen to like it, but in this case there's a very specific reason that I want something that feels like TRON. (see sig ) I don't want to just lazily rip sound bytes off the film scores though. (and yeah, I know about the orchestra, but with instrument samples that can all be done too in some limited capacity)
What I intend to do is incorporate elements of the Wendy Carlos TRON Scherzo into a modern soundtrack. If I can get it to feel like T:L at the same time, that's great because its excellent both for storytelling and gaming. '> |

Well in that case, I recommend PhilharmoIK VST for your orchestra. It's the most affordable I've found, and it delievers a pretty decent sound. The lead used in End Of Line, The Grid and others is a filtered organ sound, so if you can find a good synth pipe organ, you should be able to get some similar sounds off. The rest of it would require a lot of messing around with your basic 80s sounds. I recommend SW Performer, impOSCar, Polyiblit, Minimogue and ARPE2600. Most of those are free, cheap, or can be found free through alternative methods with relative ease. For some such VSTS, you'll need a good compressor and reverb. Camelphat VST has some nice options for fattening up a sound, in addition to a host of other basic functions that can give you some neat control. Also look into Izotope Ozone 4 once you get going.
Just don't expect to dive in and have it work for you right away. THis stuff is time consuming. if you're only real motivation is the mod soundtrack, I might suggest getting a team of volunteers to help you out in that department.abortion pills online abortion pill online purchase cytotec abortion

Oh I certainly don't expect a masterpiece my first time out. This is something I've wanted to do for years though ever since I stumbled on the Commodore Amiga mod format 'Tracker' scene.
As for getting help, it did cross my mind about asking you, at least for one song, but with what you said about originality, artistically it sounds like it wouldn't be your cup o' tea, and since I don't have the resources to pay anyone for work, I certainly wouldn't want anybody doing something that they're not happy with.
