In the futuristic-Victorian safe house the, illuminated floor panels are glass or acrylic plastic? I would to see how hard this would be to recreate in real life.
Tile:
The tiles must be glass or acrylic plastic, I would prefer acrylic plastic, I know a manufacturer of acrylics that I buy from, I'm sure he could make the large tiles that are thick enough to walk on.
Housing:
I manufacture fiberglass and carbon fiber parts so the base for the glass / plastic to rest in would be easy to make.
Lights?
Here's where I'm stumped. I would need to evenly light up the entire panel and at a minimal cost, perhaps LEDs? How could I evenly light an entire tile? Does anyone know how they illuminated the floor? I've seen LED rope lights, but how well would they evenly light up a diffused piece of glass / acrylic plastic?

The set construction used fluorescents to light all the large set panels, which were of course made of acrylic. LEDs and rope lights probably won't give you the candlepower or diffusion you'd need for the panels.where to buy abortion pill abortion types buy abortion pill onlineabortion pills online abortion questions cytotec abortion

Thanks, do you have more info on the set construction regarding the floor tiles? I'd really like to figure this out.
I'm not allowed to post links, but actually a member here: R2-CM is making a bed frame that pulls of the same effect exactly. It looks great so far!

I have thought about making floors in my future house like the ones in T:L and have thought about it in detail.
The easiest way would be to have the floor slightly raised from the actual original flooring. Using wood 2x4 you could raise the flooring up allowing you to place the flourescent bulbs underneath. Now, I'm no architect and when I do get a house I can build these floors in, I'll most likely hire a flooring consultant who has experience with these kinds of projects to help with the planning stages. Asking a bunch of people in an online forum isn't really the best way to properly construct flooring, lol.

Thanks, I'll be sure to hire one of the thousands of flooring consultants that have worked on the set of Tron. It's like every day that I see another illuminated floor, the local "flooring expert" will definitely know how to recreate a set from Tron and how to illuminate it in my town of less than 3000. Yup, that's it, I was going to tear up my whole floor without consulting a carpenter first, actually by your logic I'm supposed to bring in a "flooring expert" before I even know how thick the panels or how they will be lit, that makes a lot of sense. Duh, what was I thinking.

Do not use LED (too focused light beam), use neon (a diffuse light already). You will need to frost the underside of the 3/4" plexi panels. Also use diffuser panels from home depot on top of neon to further spread the light from the source. The inside has to be painted white to reflect evenly throughout. You will need to outline the border and allow the light to spread or you will end up with hotspots if you put them in the middle ruining the effect. We had this effect in blue neon in our audio Boom Room I designed in 2000.

You wouldnt happen to be "the" seibon would you? If so its funny seeing you here, i'm used to seeing you on the FD circuit on our SC430 (lex/apex) lol.
To be honest, flouro tubes are going to provide the best coverage at minimal cost. On set, they used Kino Flo systems, theyre in burbank and are generally rental only. you definetly dont want to buy kino. A cheaper alternative are "cool white" temp flourescent tubes, you can then wire your own ballasts into the housings, home depot flourescent ballasts will do but obviously you want to order bulk from a dist. for cost sake.
Another alternative (for seibon), id suggest hitting up v-leds. I'm sure with your rep they would hook it up. Not sure if they make frosted or milky leds instead of the crazy bright ones we use on track. Either way you will need to add a pretty hefty layer of diffusion over it. Cinema grade roscoe 215 is the density you would need at very least. Maybe even double up. The cheap alternative to this is tons of drafting vellum.
Sounds exciting, i'd love to help out.
