I mean, they get it with a disk to the gut, no helmet is going to protect them. They get knocked off the cycles and derezz, helmet or no helmet. Sam's was activating when he wielded his disk, UNTIL the light cycle battle where Clu is after him just prior to Quorra's appearance on the track. No helmet rezzed up.
And why does Clu sit with his on when he's just chillin'? |
I agree- this isn't explained well in the movies, but when you look at it from a production standpoint, it makes more sense- at least when it comes to helmets in lightcycle matches. The lightcycle scenes are almost completely CG except for the 2 or 3 shots where you see Sam's face in the bike. When it's completely CG like that, having to completely computer animate everyone's face takes alot of time and effort that isn't really necessary. As for the disk battles, they wear them to protect the heads from being hit during gravity switches- that's at least my theory. |
Did Clu's balls (the ones he's playing with in his hand) have anything to do with the gravity changes? I only noticed on my second viewing that the sign showed a change about to occur which Rinzler saw and Sam didn't. |
LOL there were threads for that too:

-"Clu's orbs": http://www.tron-sector.com/forums/default.aspx?a=top&id=402611
Honestly, I wish those damn things had been left out. They were entirely unnecessary to the plot, and created more confusion than anything else. I'm not sure what the point of them was. Seems like everybody's asking "but what did they do??" And we still don't really know for sure...!
What do you want? I'm busy.
Program, please!
Chaos.... good news. |

IluthraDanar Wrote:LWSrocks Wrote:I believed it controlled the gravity of the grid, but whether it did or not seems pretty trivial to me. |
I suppose that can be true, LW, but when I like a film, I tend to analyze every part of it, curious to know what the film makers had in mind when they wrote it. Must come from being a writer myself. |
I heard one of the novels say the balls control the gravity switch, but I haven't read any of them. Can't confirm.

I was told not to make new threads when asking questions on the film, so I found this to use again.
Since Sam had been assigned to Games, well, we know his adventures from that point. But what if he had been assigned to rectification. Can a User be rectified? What affect would that have had on Sam, do you think?abortion pills online http://www.kvicksundscupen.se/template/default.aspx?abortion-questions cytotec abortion
Forget it, Mr High and Mighty Master Control. You aren't making me talk.
