Things you are fans of, that everyone seems to dislike, but you remain a fan of anyways

You know what I'm talking about. That band that almost everyone hates, but you like the band anyways? That song you love, but everyone seems to dislike it?

This is what this thread is about.

Let me start off. When I was 19, I went through a phase where I played Pokemon games.

I am currently 19, but three months away from turning 20, this phase is gone.

One of my absolute favorite songs is by the Culture Club. That song is "Do You Really Want To Hurt Me?"

Another one of my favorite is songs is "How You Remind Me" by Nickleback.

I think Miley Cyrus is cute. I hate her music, her shows, her movies, but to me she is cute and you know what, She's 18 now, so I'm not going to jail for posting this!

*Ahem*

I know how to play "Hey there, Delilah" on Guitar. I like the song, sure, but not their version. In fact, I like the song merely because of the guitar work, the lyrics aren't bad. It's just that every time I listen to it, which is every once in a while, I imagine this 15 year old girl, named Tiffany crying while listening to this song while saying "THIS SONG IS ABOUT ME!!"

This is all I can think of.

P.S. I like Styx!

well, I'm a bit of a closet nerd. I have all these old toy collectibles, comic books, comic related movies, a stash of old Garbage Pail Kids stuff, plenty of Batman (the Tim Burton one) stuff including a lifesize figure with a wearable costume.
Oh and I also love Culture Club too! I'm 32 years old so I managed to grow up in the 80s. (thank god!)
My favorite CC song is "Time".
Also a fan of Michael Jackson. My guy friends always tease me about it.

You go man....There ain't nothing wrong with liking 80's pop stars with pesudo-feminine looks. Remember Dead or Alive? They did that song "You Spin Me (like a record)". Yep love it! I remember the Garbage Pail Kids too....You probably are too young for the "Wacky Packs" though. All that and the original Lazer Tag, Jayce And The Wheeled Warriors and Max Headroom.

I had a Lazer Tag set!!!! Oh man those were damned fun! I remember running around the house with my mother's friend's son, wearing our chest gear which had this little red light that blinked left and right.
Do they even make those anymore? I do remember they were still available in the mid nineties.
I never bought wacky packs until years after when they were very rare. I started collecting Garbage Pail Kids at series 2 and had to trade around with my classmates for series 1. (i also shamelessly own the 1987 live action movie on DVD...lol ) And I do remember Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors hahah. I was around 8 years old when Wheeled Warriors were on TV.
Good stuff.

They still make Lazer Tag sets today, and they're pretty wicked, although I doubt they are made by the same company that yours were. In fact, I think these MIGHT even have been done by Spinmaster. I got a dual-pistol set a few years ago. Now, it's nothing like you described, but the one you did was probably better. These didn't have any chest-gear or armor, the sensor you were aiming for to score a hit was actually on your opponent's gun itself. They keep you from cheating by not being able to shoot if you have your hand on your sensor. Still not perfect, though.

The lazer Tag set I was talking about was one of the first and actually the originator of the name Lazer Tag. It was by a company called Worlds of Wonder, also known for the talking teddy bear Teddy Ruxpin. Tiger TOys bought the name in the mid nities and by 2000 the name was purchased by Hasbro and turned into Lazer Tag Team Ops. Toymax made Laser Challenge which was a big seller in the 90's.

I know you had a Lazer Tag set....Cuz your'e a child o' the 80's like me! You remember the rad futuristic commercials they used to have for it? Man, if only they sold TRON toys that way! The original WOW Lazer Tag stopped being made in late 87 through 88 due to Worlds of Wonder going bankrupt. The game kits were literally selling for 10 bux at Kay Bee toys (Also an 80's staple) in an attempt to give the company some capital for paying back its debtors. There seems to be many people selling original LT gear on Ebay. I think I saw the Garbage Pail Kids movie once on cable...The Movie Channel I think, but I cannot remember what happened in the movie. Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors was one of my favorite cartoons, I was around 15 I think when it debuted. We used to get a kick of how the show only resembled the toys with the vehicles. I also remember fondly watching Voltron, Galaxy Rangers, and Centurions.

Aw, Man you brought back some really cool memories with your Lazer Tag story. I remember running around in the basement when I was little, with my Cousin and Sister, in pitch black darkness, playing Lazer Tag. There's a place here now that has a HUGE lazer tag layout - it's like playing a live-action version of "Call of Duty": complete with hills, hideouts, places where you can crouch down and get sniper shots on your opponents, and the cool thing is, it glows, looking remotely like something you'd see in TRON.

Fighting for TRON, The USERS, Both Flynns, Independents, and the mighty ISOs since '82.
