Will Disney listen to criticism by younger fans or veterans?

on Sunday, February, 06, 2011 9:55 AM
Since I watched TRON Legacy last week, I'm asking myself several questions with regard to the future quality of the franchise.

One of them is:
Will Disney listen to their younger "omg best movie of all time" fans or to the older "this movie could have been better" veterans? Or to nobdy...

Legacy was a good sequel, no doubt. It captures the original TRON feeling and mixes it with a deep tone of oblivion. It has awesome visuals and even more stunning music. However, it could not tell a story which comes close to other big budget Sci-Fi movies in the past (I count Transformers as action, not as sci-fi).

Especially the scenes with Jeff Bridges talking about the grid and his past and the solar sailor sequence lacked of suspense and the story drags on for a while, just mentioning its great ideas in relative clauses without building up a myth.

A lot of older TRON fans also advance this view. I personally know more people who complained about the story than people loving it. However, the new fans love the story and write stuff like "best movie evaaaaar" on Facebook or Youtube.

Therefore, I'm asking myself and of course you, my dear programs and users, whether Disney will listen to the critics, kick the LOST-author's asses and build up a story we all expected to be in Legacy.
Or will they just go on and keep the story unnessecarily flat for Uprising and Tron 3, despite having such a great potential they missed in part 2?

What do you think about that?

yes, they would listen to them. well, theres alot of discussion that could go wrong at this point, "but Surely, you must be serious." sry, lol. Airplane joke.

i highly recommend that disney should be where they are now with making movies, its seems that they arent listening to us much no more than their website surveys. lol

all in all, lets just let them do what they do best for now.abortion pills online abortion pill online purchase cytotec abortion

The Grid. A digital frontier. I tried to picture clusters of information as they moved through the computer. What did they look like? Ships? Motorcycles? Were the circuits like freeways? I kept dreaming of a world I thought I'd never see. And then, one day. I got in.

Honestly, (and somewhat unfortunately, in spite of myself being a member of the younger generation) they will probably listen to the younger fans. Disney and most media is looking for the newer better thing, and will listen to the fans "who know what that is," the younger, louder, newer generation that wants pretty colors and fast action. If enough TRON fans rise up and ask for what they want, then perhaps Disney will listen, but the new thing is what's viral and getting all the noise

Which is pretty sad because this won't help to improve the quality of a product.
You give us the best example, SEGA. Making sh*t since Dreamcast is dead.

However, 48% on Rotten, "only" 5.x in ratings is a warning signal.
Too bad the trend of mediocre non-animated movies is part of the current portfolio for Disney. Even PotC 3 was kind of bad compared to prequels...where to buy abortion pill http://blog.bitimpulse.com/template/default.aspx?abortion-types buy abortion pill online

I would hope Disney listen to those who think beyond the "OMG cool special effects!" crowd.

When I saw it in the cinema I really enjoyed it; a new Tron, on the big screen, in 3D! But during the drive home my mind was going back over the film and I realised - what happened to the storyline? it's like they only thought one up as a crutch for the all the special effects they poured into the film.

My brother was annoyed at it because the world inside the computer didn't have the kind of visual depth of the original one, too dark, none of the shading of the original which helped show just how vast the computer world was that Kevin was sucked into. And I tend to agree with him on that.

If there is a 3rd Tron film, can we have a fully fleshed-out, decent plot/storyline please Disney.

The dark grid was not that bad, actually. It is lost for 20 years and CLU ruined a lot during his reign.
I totally agree with your point of view about the story. After driving home, I realised they underachieved the myth of the grid and the story in general.

I wonder if there is any possibility to either run a big petition for a better story or a "listen to us" scream by the fans or directly contact Disney with a middleman who works at Disney or something. Oo

Don't we have silent readers from Disney / TRON team here?

I think both really.

No doubt that the younger fans and that coveted 18 to 35 age bracket is what any business caters to (and yes, Tron is a business in a sense), but then again it was us older fans who kept the torch burning all these years.

I believe it's because of the devoted veteran fan following Tron enjoys that we saw Tron: Legacy and not The Black Hole: Legacy

Agreed.

I doubt they'll listen to one set of fans more than the other. where to buy abortion pill abortion types buy abortion pill online
