When Sam supposedly leaves the grid, the same static noise background that is heard during the action in the grid (particularly at his dad "apartment") remains. It doesn't go away when he disconnects his backup, not even when he shows Quora the sun. Hrm, it'd make an interesting sideline fanfic/fan movie. Kind of like how in the last Matrix movie, the Matrix suddenly becomes all nice and pretty again? Sam finds out that happened and he's actually still there... Actually I think there would be too many logistical problems to work out, so that would be hard to do.
