Here's one thought. Given the potential Tron 3 teaser rumor, Disney may leave the teaser off the basic release and watch sales. Later, they can throw it in a special edition release with the 3rd movie trailer once they've got a better idea on whether to go forward with the 3rd.

Me too, I didn't know about it either.

I was just stressed because I was trying to find out why Tron Legacy wasn't being oc in my area and it turned out to not be the theatre's fault but Disney's fault. (Evidently it seems that Rear Window captioning is unpopular with deaf people. Imo, it would be okay for short movies but Tron Legacy was not a short movie at all.)

Didn't help that my brother in law was giving me grief for even trying.

In the history of film releases, has this ever happened before where the part 1 of a film is out of print while the part 2 is in print?

What will the impact be for patient people waiting for the release so they can get a copy of the original Tron?

I can anticipate higher sales, I mean, it is not like the Karate Kids films weren't available when the new one came out. When they bundle the original Tron with Legacy, sales can go up.

This might mean green light for TR3N.

It is sad that Disney held back the original for legacy, in all respects you really do need to see the original to make Legacy better I believe, to fully understand it.

Also, how do streaming services like Netflix take into account for sales? Does Disney get a cut everytime someone 'adds to queue?'

Definitely bad-ass! They look like the kind of covers you'd see from some uber-special edition.
