CLU/Young Jeff Bridges Face-Tech

on Sunday, December, 19, 2010 10:04 PM
First off, I have to say I adored this movie and this is not a knock against it by any means. It's just a question/observation. But, to me, the CLU shots were a little uneven. Some looked fantastic but some were glaringly, "Obvious". Now, I can dismiss it by saying, "It's a new technology that's still in its infancy" but that's not entirely true. I have to admit, I watched all of, "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" and had no clue that Brad Pitt's head was 100% digital most of the time.

Did anyone else feel that way? Is it two different companies and methodologies? Am I on crack?abortion pills online http://www.kvicksundscupen.se/template/default.aspx?abortion-questions cytotec abortion

I thought it was really good. There was only a scene or two where it looked off, but for the most part it was all great. I thought it was going to look wrong too, but after seeing it in theaters I thought it was awesome.where to buy abortion pill ordering abortion pills to be shipped to house buy abortion pill online

I agree, and it seemed the scenes that were like that were the ones we saw in the previews. I guess they kept making improvements.order abortion pill http://unclejohnsprojects.com/template/default.aspx?morning-after-pill-price where to buy abortion pill

Yeah, don't me wrong. I think most of CLU was very good. And I thought the whole ending sequence with him in front of the army was outstanding. I think I am more curious about the different techs involved in this movie versus Benjamin Button.

IMO, only a few scenes did Clu or "flash back Flynn" look a bit "off",
but oh man, IMO a few scenes Clu looked excellent when he was speaking and emoting! Those few scenes in my view he did look great!

What I will find interesting is to see behind the scenes photage of the body, the actor playing Clu, before the face was changed to look like Jeff Bridges.

And I thought for the most part younger Clu looked pretty good. The times when Clu did not look all that natural, it reminded me that Clu was the creation, an artificial lifeform, which kinda worked for me. That and the original Clu was kinda plastic as a character anyway.

"You think we can merge with this memory... Bit?" (Almost robotic in the way he talked)

I think the summary of what I'm saying is, it was a noble try, and the times they failed, since he was a program anyway, it just seemed to work with that premise.

When Sam meets Clu, Clu in the Safe House, Clu at the End of Line Club, he looked excellent in those scenes to me.
The speeches, he looked "ok" to "pretty good", yeah it bit "off" sure, but yeah there's room for improvement on the animation in those scenes.
But I've seen FAR worse CG in other films.

When Clu is talking about how he wanted to "make a perfect system" near the end looked pretty good to me though.

I find it ironic that CG artists are trying to render and animate a "perfect", realistic version of a real person/actor as a character. Just as the character Clu is trying to create a "perfect system"; but the tech isn't quite able to perfectly emulate the human face and emotional expression. But I think despite the limitations, Digital Domain did a very admirable job.

Maybe such a feat of "perfection" is "unknowable" and "unattainable" in this case.order abortion pill http://unclejohnsprojects.com/template/default.aspx?morning-after-pill-price where to buy abortion pill

When I saw Benjamin Button I actually thought, "We're here. We can finally mimic people's faces". But when I saw CLU, like I was saying earlier, I felt it was a slight step backward. Anyway, if you haven't seen Benjamin Button you really should. The digital head in that is absolutely astonishing, especially for a movie going on a, "Whole" 3 years old . This is what leads me to believe that the digital art-houses took two entirely different approaches and tech.

If you are curious, here is the Benjamin Button animators speaking at TED about the technology involved:
