They don't have a say in the matter. They aren't claiming ownership or using the logos or characters, and you can't trademark a costume.

Same here. These look well done. Clearly some one over at playboy likes TRON a lot. And breasts.
I'm confused why anyone is finding this objectionable. Doesn't playboy do a lot of these sorts of things for upcoming movies and things? It's not like they are dirtying up TRON or anything. They are literally doing the poses from the posters, and the look is spot on. They just happen to be naked and painted (I'm guessing? How was this done?). It seems very tastefully done. It's not like just like, straight up banging in a TRON suit. That would be dirtying up TRON. Also, I'm fairly certain that exists, I think it's called PRON. THATS something to be annoyed about. -_-;

It was done with paint, hand-applied with an airbrush. A similar technique was used to transform actor Doug Jones into Abe Sapien for the Hellboy movies.

Body paint is pretty common up here in VT since there's a local artist who paints on women topless and she does great work. Sometimes men, but it's rare. after all, as ana artist myself, it doesn't bother me if Playboy is doing something like this in a creative way. I've drawn women many times over the last two decades now and understand what they are doing.

Why not? TRON is PG. Doesn't mean Playboy should be the same 
Besides, the Playboy shoot will work out in Disney's favor as older
men who were probably in doubt on seeing a Disney PG film will probably
rethink their decision to go check out the new film. All this translates into $$$$

I don't follow Playboy but from what I know of it, PB is actually kinda geeky to a degree and don't mind a little silly fun. Their mags, believe it or not, are not JUST nude photos. They have movie interviews and such as well, just like any entertainment media source.
And don't complain, at least they TRY to actually delve into fantasy. See if Victoria's Secret ever does that.
And yeah, that skin-painting is pretty amazing stuff.
