Luckily I got my tickets to see Legacy at a Disney multimedia screening a week today in London. 28 years of waiting is almost at an end...

I passed by this afternoon before the construction was completed; saw some classic arcade games been installed, including Tron.

Pretty, cool.
I wonder how many of those life size Light Cycle models were made. There's one at Disney California Adventrue for ElecTRONica, their will be one at the El Capitan Theater in hollywood, and now one at that location in the UK... Disney must of had more than one made....

Well the visit to Southbank didn't go very well. I got there at 5pm as advertised only to find that there was a "technical glitch". We wandered around for an hour. The glitch was still in effect but after about ten minutes we were allowed to have a look at the lightcycle. Very nice it was too before we were told that we had to leave, five minutes into our visit. The reason was that they wanted to get the second floor right first. Bizzarre as we were out of the cold and minding our own business. There wasn't a big crowd - just ten fans that I could count.
A great shame for us and the staff judging from their reactions.

Because i'm a persistent SOB, I tried again and visited the HP Southbank Event. What a 360 degree turnaround. Everything was working and everybody was helpful, friendly and made the visit worthwhile. I will edit my previous post because it doesn't reflect the finished event.
I will post a link to more details when I complete the uploading and writing but I did record the TRON related lightshow.
One of our very own forum users and popular contributors was there too, complete with TRON helmet :O)

Just back from the HP event; good fun (if a bit cold!)
Light Cycle, Tron arcade machine, Tron Evolution demo pods all present; outdoor Daft Punk light & sound show was neat stuff.
There's some ongoing info from their Twitter feed (http://twitter.com/HPHItPrint_UK), for those interested.

I saw it last night; I was blown away.
Back in February I posted an entry on my blog about the oncoming nerdrush of Tron Legacy, waxing lyrical about the original movie and putting my heart on my sleeve for the sequel. I said: "You have to be a certain kind of geek to get Tron. It's the fever-dream of every gamer, the Narnia of the Atari generation; the fantasy of crossing to the other side of the screen." "We were the first to grow up with (videogames), and we had an instinctual understanding of the idea of a gamescape as a "real" place" "Tron was ahead of its time."
And then yesterday, ignoring London as it slowly turned into a massive snow-sculpture all around me, I went to see a preview of Tron Legacy; I got to watch the first IMAX 3D print of the film on an epic huge screen with bone-pounding sound. I went back to the grid, and it was like I never left.
There's a line at the start of the movie where Flynn says "I kept dreaming of the world I thought I'd never see..." and it made me think of my teenage self, scribbling stories in his notebooks, drawing pictures of Lightcycles and Recognizers, subsuming himself in the lights and sounds of arcade games. I never thought I'd see the world of Tron again, but it's out there, the humming neon landscape just over the digital horizon.
Tron Legacy will take you to it. If you're invested in this fictional world, you'll see old friends and new sights. There's shock and awe, there's knowing nods to the past and definite looks to the future.
A new chapter in this story begins; I hope there will be more.

Agreed -- I saw TRON: LEGACY a couple of weeks ago here in LA... loved it -- there's still an embargo in place, which is why no reviews have posted yet... but soon, expect the net to be abuzz with thoughts on the movie.... - Jay

Yup, they told us at the London screening that Sunday was the hard limit for reviews going up.
