I'm wondering how others will introduce family/friends/etc. to the type of world that exists in Tron. What got me thinking about it was a story on MSN.com http://movies.msn.com/paralleluniverse/tron-legacy-sneak-peek/story/across-the-universe/?gt1=288140 that talked about Legacy. It was neat to see one of the major news sites covering the movie, but something the author wrote suggested to me that he had a fundamental misunderstanding of the Tron world.
He wrote "...which created a virtual reality in which Flynn and Bradley's digital avatars -- known as CLU and TRON, respectively -- battled for their survival in games created by the computer's Master Control Program." His usage of the term "virtual reality" makes it sound as if the Tron world was only a program in which the people controlled avatars, rather than an entire universe existing as a result of the computer systems.
It's a difficult distinction to describe (I just spent 10 minutes thinking how to describe it above, and I'm still not happy with it) and so I am wondering if others have found good ways to relate the story and basic concepts to friends, etc who don't know it.
I want to convince as many people as I can to go see Legacy, and it would help if I could succinctly describe the world.

That's weird. This post appears on the I/O Tower bar on the right side of the screen but not on the list in the Tron:Legacy forum. Did I not post it right?

"Ya it is 11:00 at night. So what? I have been waiting 20 damn
years for this movie to come out and I am not going to let you or

"The Tron universe is a world of computer programs - which are represented by people - who interact with each other inside of one system. Kevin Flynn (Oscar-winner Jeff Bridges) not only created this world but has entered it physically by digitizing himself with a laser. His son Sam is looking for him... but some of Kevin's programs might not like Sam trying to return his father to the real world.
Plus, Olivia Wilde is in it with really, really tight clothing. And there are lots of cool bike races, battles and explosions in 3D. And Daft Punk make pretty snazzy music.
So just see it already, Grandma!"
