I was just watching the Daft Punk "Derezzed" video (for like the thousandth time! LOL!) and enjoying the music, and I realized something. Maybe it's just me, but the note progression in "Derezzed" sounds a little like some parts of the track, "The Light Sailer" from the TRON Original Soundtrack. Yes, the Daft Punk version is sped up with a different beat timing, and of course, it's not exactly the same, but, to me, it sounds almost like a nod to Wendy Carlos.

I'm curious as to how many other nods to the Wendy Carlos score we will see throughout DP's score.

And as much as I agree with the use of a digital artist for the score of Legacy I question the choice of Daft Punk. Ever since the 90's I've found their music to be hit or miss with me... (mostly miss). I love Electronic music, and I can't help but think that there are other artists that might not have been chosen: The Crystal Method, Atlas Plug, Paul Oakenfold, or possibly even Junkie XL.

Don't get me wrong - I'm not throwing the towel in on DP's score, I have high hopes for it, and I hope it turns out to be what Toto's score was for Dune... amazing.

Thanks for posting that, Shadow. That sounds awesome! I'm happy to hear there is a range in the style of music, not just techno-style music. I'm sure for this score they had to really stretch themselves, since it's outside the norm of what they usually are accustomed to. But I'm really impressed what I hear. I'm really looking forward to seeing the movie and buying the soundtrack.
