Of course another possibility is that maybe Dan Shor is doing a voice or vocal effect for Rinzler. I think under SAG rules that qualifies as starring. I think it was Flynn that jerry rigged a brief connection to page Alan.
Why Clu sending the call *might* be a possibility I don't think Clu would of sent the call (if it's even within his ability to).
Clu 2.0 would know he would have 2 Users to deal with, and it seems that would be an even greater threat to his rule and influence over the citizenry with 2 Users uniting against him and rousing a rebellion...

I am highly doubtful Clu could even have the ability to even send a call/signal to Alan's pager.
