Ok..So I've been attending SDCC every year since 1992 and it's grown and expanded. In that growth some things remain pretty cool.. and somethings.. not so much.
What's good about SD Comic Con:
1) Panels with sneak peak/clips, exclusive trailers
2) Meeting one's favorite comic book artists (Roman Dirge FTW!)
3) Free swag of all kinds.
4) Free tv show screenings or free movie screeings.
5) Getting to see a cool actor or writter you've never got the chance to say "hi, I like yor work, great job!"
6) A few very cute girls in nice costumes to take a photos of. (when their not underage.. underage.. it's like NO, and way creepy...)
7) Meeting people in-person, with similar interests to yours.
8 ) All kinds of cool toys, statues and displays that look kick a** that you can take pictures of.
9) You get decent exercise from doing so much walking. lol
10) Alot of cool stuff and comics & graphic novels to buy!
11) If your an aspiring artist, or writer, the chance to maybe do a little networking.
Things that really suck about SDCC...
1) The massive crowds, serously, badges need to be capped at 90,000 and no more, this 120,000 - 140,000 ppl is bullpoodoo and needs to stop. Many MANY issues will be greatly eased if they did this. Such as car and ppl traffic problems would be eased some...
2) Excessively long lines for everything, even just to get
1 piece of swag at some of the booths.
3) Artists Alley is put all the way to the far end.. what the hecks up with that?! V_V
4) Idiots that don't shower and radiate stink...
come on ppl, take showers, wear clean clothes everyday!
5) Rude Fan-boys and Fan Girls that show up for only ONE panel and are talking and being disruptive during other panels before the one they are there for.. Please show some courtesy and kindly SHUT UP.
Read some comics, play PSP, DS, doodle in a sketch pad, or quietly text chat.. jeez...
6) Bizzare online bloggers/internet journalists that hog up the Q&A with the most STUPID, INANE, and INSIPID
comments and questions imaginable!!! For frak sake, sit down and let the actual FANS ask a question!
7) Don't ask people like the actors on a panel PERSONAL questions.
8 ) Over priced, crappy food! There are alternatives, seriously.
9) Too much walking!!!
While walking a lot is good excersize, by about hour 3 or 4 of walking or standing, omg even with decent shoes it can get very tiring.
I do not envy those in costumes, in boots, or in high-heels. They almost deserve a medal.
10) SDCC allowing a person reserving a hotel room to reserve 5-10 rooms at once. WTF?!
This is creating a problem with people that pre-paid & registered not being having available even ONE hotel room at a hotel they'd like to make a reservation at.
Only allow up to 3 room reservations and that's it.
Not this 5+ room bullpucky!
11) Rude rent-a-cops. Seriously, I know it's a challege to direct "people traffic" but don't be rude about it.
12) Disallow camping out overnight for a panel.
It's, IMO squating, potentially dangerous, and kids under 18 shouldn't be allowed to do it especially if it's outside on the lawn outside the convention center.
It's a bit too much like loitering and why allow you child be out there unsupervised?!
13) If your really overwieght, are a bit to hairy, please for the love of God
do not dress like some skimpy costume or anime girl character costume; or wear nothing but a speedo and fake jewlery and a open shirt.
It's scaring the kids and grossing people out. Stop it. Put some d**m clothes on PLEASE.
14) If your daughter is under 17(like 16 on down to 9 yrs old), for the love of god DO NOT let her dress in skimpy, tight and/or revealing costumes. It's JUST NOT RIGHT!!! for example. If you daugter is 12 ~15 don't let her dress in something like this:
