I have been in San Francisco for 4 years. Every year at wondercon they always do something special every year for whatever movies are coming out and for the most part I just went on the last day to check things out.
When I heard Disney would be doing something at Wondercon for TRON this year I went an hour before the doors opened and I got there right in time.
These kids (if you're on this forum I am sorry for slightly dissing you, but you ended up being cool in the end), they were walking around with rolls of Tron posters, they had on Tron shirts and I ran up like a child.
"What is this?!?!?" I asked
"Well, it's about Tron, we're letting people know about the event."
And I said "CAN I PLEASE HAVE A POSTER?"
I could tell they have to be stingy, but I have never been more excited about anything in my life.
"We're only supposed to give them out to people who are going to the event"
"WHAT EVENT? I WILL GO"
"We'll sorry we really need to save these for people who are going"
"I WILL GO TO WHAT? I WILL GO...WHAT IS IT"
So after proving how big a dousche I am over tron I got the poster and they said be at 5 embarcadero plaza at 6:30.
I was there and after spending ours and ours in stupid lines just to have already been informed of what was to take place I went at 6:30 with a couple of friends just to wait in more lines.
But it was worth it. This is by far the CRAZIEST viral campaign I have ever heard of.
And that dude that is going to play Sam rocked the hell out of Four Brothers so I trust him enough to not be bitter about going to see this flick.
You could tell people wanted to participate, but you got the vibe of people ripe with anticipation more considering everyone wants to know what they were getting for showing up.
Everyone got shirts, most got posters, it wasn't out of place to see several people with more than 2 or 3 posters.
I am usually the jealous one when it comes to stories of what people get for showing up to secret events.
I'm almost a big enough fan to ALMOST cry that I didn't get to see Flynn's Arcade in San Diego.
But I get to see the movie in 9 months or so, so that works too.
You guys have seen the videos, it was cool but people were standing out in the bitter cold just to witness it.

It was a amazing event. I had to watch it on stream, but it was awesome. Can't wait to see what they do here(San Diego) again.

There is no way I will make it to Comic-con. But they are doing such a bad ass job on this viral campaign I will go as far as to say this is Good Old Fashioned Teasing.
I love it, and it makes me excited for a movie for the first time in a long long time.
George Lucas screwed us and even though Lisberger did a sick job, I am glad they gave it to another director.
I am even more glad they didn't let Michael Bay come within 5 feet of any of this. Did anybody see that scene in Transformers 2 where Sam and Meagan Fox's character were saying goodbye before he went to college, and Michael Bay made the camera swirl around them for a few minutes?

LOL dont get to excited yet..save it for the film
But yea, they are doing a fine job with Trom. I have waited since 82 for a new film. I was 6, i even put Tron over Star Wars in those days. An yea, if Bay was to do a Tron.. I'm sure a lot of fans would be pissed.
I never saw Transformers 2, and I probably won't since I dont like Michael Bay. Never have , never will.
I wonder what a Sam Raimi version of Tron would look like though... "Like the man says, there's no problems, only solutions. " ~ Kevin Flynn |

Dude, we are still star wars buffs, but when we were kids there was only ONE kid I knew that had the tron toys.
He had the red and yellow light cycle, and two figures.
He was one of the most anal retentive kids I can remember.
When he refered to them, and this is in 1985, he referred to them as collector's items not toys.
I think one time my brother and him were playing and my brother crashed his bike into the other kids, the kid yelled "you ruined a collector item" and ran off. My brother was probably 7 and had no idea what happened.
That kid never brought those toys over again.

I don't know anyone else or I have never personally met anyone who had the Tron toys when they were kids.
I don't know if toy companies knew they were making them more valuable by not releasing them for years.
I don't know that I ever saw any toy displays for tron when I was a kid.
My kids will never appreciate the fact that at one time there was no such thing as ebay.
Sometimes there were toys you saw in commercials but never saw on the shelves. When you went to another kids house and they had it, chances are you FREAKED OUT!!! We did. I remember when I was a kid I flipped when I saw those Tron toys. The kid told me I was too young to play with them. But he did let me hold Tron up to a lamp and take it into the bathroom myself for 2 minutes so I could watch it GLOW!!!
I was a retarded kid. But I think it was my first exposure to rare items.
One day if I become a sick millionaire I am going to buy 1000's of tron figures and line my office wall with them so my walls glow when I turn the lights out. And since I will be a sick millionaire, I will track down that kid, fly him to my office, and tell him he can only stand at the door and look in. And before I shut the door in his face right before his curiosity makes him try to lunge inside, then I slug him in the gut and give him a first class ticket home.
And that is why I will probably never be a millionaire.

Dude, relax. I'm a nerd too. not a bully.
But yeah, I am worth tens of dollars now and I will be forever so I will never have the kind of money to do that.
Whatever a persons beliefs are, I know whatever God is, it knows I will do something stupid with money so I will never have any.
It works out pretty well...

That's the way it is out here too.
I graduate in two months and there are no jobs to be had.
So many companies are closing down that people with 15 years of experience are applying to the same jobs I am.
I moved to San Francisco from Dallas because when I moved out here 4 years ago it appeared there weren't enough animators to fill all the jobs.
Now I can't even get a job as a janitor.
When I was a teen people would complain that Generation X'ers were gonna ruin the world. Most of us turned out pretty well adjusted compared to kids nowdays, and then those people who said that are the ones who screwed the pooch and left us holding the bag.
Hell I need to vent I spend all day in front of the computer and I love what I am doing, but I feel like I am hauling ass backwards on a treadmill.

That's horrible. At least in my area, even though it's a small town; the rent for studio apartments are cheap enough so you don't immediatly go homeless if you can't even get a cheap-laborous job. Were having job trouble too. We're also suffering from buisness leaving us and closing like your descriptions.
San Francisco is expensive to live in. I can't think of anything worse than being trapped in a expensive city and not have a means to put bread on the table.
People still complain about gen X'ers where I live. I'm not entirely sure if I'm considered from generation X, but I know my brother is one due to his age and what he grew up with (he's older than me). He turned out just fine, but people complain how spoiled and thankless 'they' are. What sucks is that he worked hard in a full time job after high school and lived by himself hoping that he could get aid for college. He never got any, so he couldn't afford more than a year of cummunity college. Now he just works to get by every year.
It's alright to vent once in a while. Things are sucking these past couple of years.
At least we both have Tron to look forward to. Are you planning to go to any of the other future Tron events?where to buy abortion pill http://blog.bitimpulse.com/template/default.aspx?abortion-types buy abortion pill online I'm cold and calculating. Don't press my buttons.

I wish I could. I could only afford to go this year because it was free to go to the operation.
I really really wish I could have been there for Comic-con and I wish I could be at the next.
2009 was probably the worst year of my life. 2010 feels so much better although I hate not having a job.
I have been working since I was 13 non-stop, which means that everyday I have not been in school I have been at work. The longest I have been without a job is about 3 months and that has only happened 3 times.
It has been a year since I have had a job and I don't know that I will ever get another one again at this point.
about 2 out of 3 people I know in San Fran are out of a job. And all the people who talked about quitting their jobs because they were miserable are stuck now.
This isn't good. It is not Obamas fault. It was the millions of rich assholes 100's of years before obama got here and all these people are acting as though he needs to solve it in his first official year which no one could.
But what can be done at this point, it used to get me down really hard core and then I realized that was selfish because there are so many others in the same boat.
This movie is the only thing that is keeping me from killing myself this year and for that I thank Disney for at least giving me til Dec to decide if things will ever get better.

LOL!!!! As long as Michael Bay and Uwe Boll stay far the hell away from anything TRON, I'll be cool. One thing that comforts me is to know that Steven Lisberger is still involved - and with all this COOL viral marketing stuff, I do have some hope that TRON LEGACY will be good and respect the legacy of the first TRON movie (pun intended). It was good to see Cindy Morgan in this whole thing - hope she is involved in TL, as it was her character (along with Dr. Walter Gibbs) who made travel between the real and computer worlds possible in the first place.
As far as Transformers is concerned (as I am a HUGE TRON geek and also a HUGE Transformers geek)While I did like TF1, I still have some issues with it, and I HATED TFROTF, and personally, at this point, IF (and that's a BIG "IF") I decide to see TF3, I'll probably wait to see it on video. I also still hate some of the designs, and in my opinion, if they had gone with a design aesthetic close to the Binaltech and Alternators lines, that would have been more pleasing than the too-busy, pile-of-twisted-and-distorted-scrap design that most of the bayformers are comprised of. Also, if Skids and Mudflap are either: A)Vaporized by a Decepticon in the first few minutes of TF3, or B)reformatted, or C)Replaced by a FAITHFUL addition of SUNSTREAKER, then I'll be much better off. I would go see Transformers three in the theaters if the whole movie was transformers playing basketball with Michael Bays fat ass head.
I'm sorry, I don't know why George Lucas and Michael Bay think they are appealing to kids. Their kids have to be pretty screwed up, I mean trying to bite their own ears screwed up if those are the kids they are trying to appeal to.
You know, the kids who like to cut their own hair and wear velcro shoes well into their 30's?
I think even those people who have good sense enough to know these guys don't know jack squat about filmmaking.
I am at an artschool and Film kids are usually the hardest ones to talk to.
How did Michael Bay go from making crappy music videos to making crappy movies. What executive thought that leap would be successful?
Disney always stirs up controversy over their backyard activities. I am tired of companies spending 10 times more on marketing of a film just to find out all that marketing was to cheek you into to seeing a film that a studio knows they spent too much money on.
Disney has already spent a lot of money on this and I hope they go bankrupt only to find out they did it for a winner.

Preach, Brotha, Preach, LOL!!!!!!!! And the thing is this: even Orci and Kurtzman, 2/3 of the writing staff of TFROTF, even told Michael Bay that Skids and Mudflap (and some other things Bay wanted, as Skids and Mudflap were SOLELY Bay's idea to "appeal to kids") would be a BAD idea. . .but Bay didn't listen. I also hated Jar-Jar Binks - and Skids and Mudflap to me, are a robot version of Jar Jar. I have some hope that TRON LEGACY will be dope, as well as the digitally-animated TV program that is set to air in the future, as long as: 1)Miley Cyrus IS NOT involved; 2)iCarly IS NOT involved; 3)the JONAS BROS ARE NOT involved. Being in San Francisco you end up talking to a lot of animators who change companies a lot. I have met and heard second hand from animators at ILM that worked for Michael Bay.
They said he is the biggest Dousche to work for and just like in that scene of him in South Park's imaginationland, that is supposedly what he is really like in meetings.
I have even heard the comment that the person that wrote that likely worked for him or heard it second hand like I did.
Supposedly he really does Onomatopoeia the hell out of his effects team.
I could not direct a film, that is why I am not as big of an asshole as Michael Bay, because I would have just said, no give it to James Cameron please.
If they had been smart and wanted to make it a great trilogy allowing the first one to be the worst, they could have given the sequel to Irvin Kershner.
Ok not could have, should have.
Since there probably and hopefully won't be a third if this one is bad, I wonder what Kirshner's version would look like.
If this movie is good, then it should be the start of a new trilogy.
I think most fans would forgive that if Kershner directs the second one.
If you are reading this disney, and plan on doing a second, go ahead and do a third and give the second to Kershner.where to buy abortion pill abortion types buy abortion pill online
