These were awesome movies IMO:

and

And there's these vastly under-rated 80's fantasy films:

The Dark Crystal
LEGEND
Labyrinth

Awesome movies. I have most of those on DVD. I haven't seen Krull in a while, I think I'll pop that in for this morning. I'm waiting on my friends to get here since we're going out to the lake for the 4th of July (huge fireworks display).. but we aren't leaving here till this afternoon so I've got several hours to kill...

A *very under-rated* 80's movie that's very good in my view:

STARMAN.

Tipo on Legend (if you're reffing the ridley scott one)

There's two different versions. a short one that was a cut down edition that mostly marketed to kids. Then there's the longer one (think that one also made it as an international cut, not sure on if there are two seperate dvd editions or if only the longer one got DVD'd.)

Watch the longer one. you will get more out of it. Also one of tom cruise's better performances. Then again he was pretty good in the eighties and nineties. Wasn't until he jumped the couch that he started blowing chunks. But that's a topic for another thread.where to buy abortion pill http://blog.bitimpulse.com/template/default.aspx?abortion-types buy abortion pill onlineabortion pills online abortion pill online purchase cytotec abortion

I'm a bit suprised no one said Transformers The movie. And I mean the Original G1 Cartoon action.
Saw it on youtube and I really enjoyed it. (yes, youtube, but, I don't think they released the movie yet on DVD, or if they have, I haven't found it yet. >.

I don't know if I mentioned 'Gotcha' already or not. It was actually a pretty good cold war movie. I just saw that again the other night and it brought back allot of memories seeing it on HBO back in the day.

I must admit, I’ve got quite a few 80’s films in my DVD collection, and they are:

* The Thing.
* Poltergeist (the only criticism I have is that it didn’t have much in the way of interesting extras, though ).
* Blade Runner (The limited edition Final Cut, a Directors cut version that I brought in 2004 and an original VHS version that I brought for a couple of quid in a second hand charity shop, which I‘m quite happy of ).
* Mad Max 2.
* Mad Max beyond Thunderdrome.
* Hellraiser I-III (the first two are good, the third is watch able, but anything after that… )
* Predator.
* Legend (the James Cameron film with Tom Cruise & Tim Curry has the Devil).
* Gremlins.
* Ghostbusters (now THERE'S a surprise! ).
* The NeverEnding Story (the 1984 film).
* Highlander (just the first one-the second one is awful! I just couldn‘t bring myself to watch it, it was so different to the first! ).
* Close Encounters of the Third Kind.
* The Warriors.
* Young Sherlock Holmes.

However, there are three films that I particularly like=

* The Dark Crystal-this is a modern classic in my opinion, with a great story, interesting characters & visually impressive cinematography. Jim Henderson really pushed the boundaries in this puppet driven movie (apart from the puppeteers, not a single actor in sight!), which is still entertaining today has when it was released-and NO CGI!.

* The other is Krull.

The reason I like it is because, like The Dark Crystal, it’s one of those movies that I feel definitely deserves more recognition in the field of fantasy then it actually gets, and I feel it that it does tend to get a bit overlooked when discussions of fantasy films are talked about.
The way the writers have managed to fuse both science fiction & fantasy together into a single story is brilliantly done-it’s like taking Star Wars & Lord of the Rings and merging the two together.

And best of all, it actually WORKS!

The only thing that saddens me about it is that, watching it these days, like so many films of the early 80’s it is, sadly, beginning to show signs of age (if you know what I mean), especially when it comes to visual effects-this would be the only time I would actually permit the use of CGI in an old film!

And needless to say, TRON is DEFINATLY in there (the 20th Anniversary Special Edition)!
