T:L Trailer music

on Monday, March, 15, 2010 1:41 PM
Ok, so I have a cursory knowledge of electronic music, and I need a little help with the music fron the Legacy trailer. (I like Front Line Assembly, Front 242, and Black Sun Empire, but that's about as far as it goes.)

I know that Daft Punk is doing the OST, but I also know that what we've heard so far isn't exactly par for the course as far as DP goes. their stuff is usually a little happier, and more "pop". The trailer music is absolutely sick. Its so dark and hard, but definitely not industrial.

Does anyone here know where I might find other groups that make music similar to the trailer? There are WAYYYY too many sub-genres of electronic music for me to even begin sorting through them all, so any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

You should check out Clint Mansell. He did the soundtrack to the movie "pi", and he was the frontman for Pop Will Eat Itself. That score in particular is in that dark, moody electronic vein for sure.on line abortion pill misoprostol dose abortion medical abortion pill onlinewhere to buy abortion pill http://blog.bitimpulse.com/template/default.aspx?abortion-types buy abortion pill online

I concur - excellent film, excellent score.

If you're looking for dark electronica, you might also pick up the Dead Cities CD by The Future Sound of London.abortion pills online abortion pill online purchase cytotec abortion

Agreed! I have used bits of "Herd Killing" in a few things I have done for my church. Good sound effects and a very hard drum beat.

Some of the heavy bit-crushing distortion near the end of the teaser trailer does remind me a lot of Aphex but DPs music has a lot more traditional melodic form.

At the heavy end of the scale you've got stuff like Autechre and Aphex Twin. (Cool video here for Gantz Graf by the former) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nfwD05XA2YQ
and a very good bit crushing track from the latter: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qwe10iDlFQo
The only problem with a lot of this stuff is that you can't exactly nod along to a lot of it as its all over the place. Amazing live though.

A lot of the stuff on Warp-Records has a dark, electronic feel. Even some of the heavier stuff Boards of Canada have done springs to mind. June 9th for example, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3P-CTAwaCmM though most of their stuff is more melodic (but you might find something else you like about their stuff anyway) The High Scores ep is pretty dark.

Hexstatic did a few tracks you might like. Vector is sure to be a Tron fan firm favorite: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MXjWcJNkjTs&feature=related
Even more mainstream stuff like The Crystal method, Orbital and the Prodigy have these kinds of aspects to a lot their music.

anyway hope I've helped.

Psyclon Nine are pretty cool, but in a far more evil black metal electronica vein

I would also suggest you hunt down a copy of Gary Numans last 4 albums. "Exile", "Pure", "Hybrid" and "Jagged" are all pretty dark albums, and Hybrid shows what numan's old songs sound like today if you were on a diet of anti-depressants and nine inch nails!
