I think the point being made was that if the goal is to find a way to keep TRON 2.0 canon, the idea of Ma3a being bonded to Lora's DNA could be tweaked enough to make the movie's story work. Personally, I'd rather see a few storyline elements retconned than the whole damn thing.

@Unknown Conscript (site glitches, huzzah!)

The spoiler blackout can be done by entering your text between [ spoiler ] spoiler text [ /spoiler ] tags (without spaces).

In TRON 2.0, Kevin Flynn stepped down as Encom CEO because of what was believed to be some kind of post traumatic stress that was somehow caused by being in the computer world. He seemed to be going somewhat insane in his last couple of emails to Alan. I'm not suggesting that Flynn committed suicide, that's going a bit far, but I think a popular theory was that Flynn backed away from all technology (and civilization) because of his experiences inside the computer. Perhaps it was not being able to go back, or maybe just because being teleported into a world where everyone wears spandex with circuitry lines is a giant freaking mindf***k. Apparently it, and everything else, was supposed to be answered in TRON 3.0.

ShadowDragon1 Wrote:Alternate universes (real world and Cyberspace Universes) Are certainaly possible.

Different models of advanced quantum computers designed and built by Encom could each have it's own version of a "cyberspace realm."

Since I view these realms as partly metaphysical on a microcosmic and nanocosmic level, and not as literal physical objects (as in one can't use a microscope and see little Program people walking around on a motherboard "physically." It's like a digital "Astral Plane" in a sense in my view. It's not visible to the naked human eye, mind or current scietific equipment. It's more elusive and invisible to being percieved (when not IN that realm) than dark energy and dark matter is.

This summarizes exactly how I think of it as well, and judging from this statement - probably goes for most tron fans.

Traahn Wrote:I can't remember what happened to Flynn in Tron 2.0... but I remember always being bummed that he wasn't in it and I think was only referenced in emails. And was bummed that Alan's character seemed a bit naive and flighty, and that he didn't think highly of Flynn; even though Flynn, Laura and Alan were friends at the end of the film and Flynn surely had nice stories to tell of being inside the computer (assuming he remembered the experience). In Tron 2.0's intro, Alan tells Jet he doesn't want him to become like Flynn... pretty much disrespecting and dismissing the fact that Flynn invented some of the most popular games of the time, went into a computer world where he helped destroy the MCP, and then became head (or near head) of Encom. How is that such a bad role-model?

This could be adjusted quite easily, rather than Flynn going insane it could be that he just became obsessed with creating a digital utopia, the isos and transforming human society as we know it, and that accounts for all the strange behavior. So in the time that passes Alan could come to view the overall effect on Flynn as being negative - entirely possible. Maybe shunning technology was a cover. They kept the part about him retiring from Encom anyway.

However in TL it appears that nobody even knows about digitization, not sure where that leaves us.

every SCI fi-series worth it's sequels must have some continuity issues ;-)
That just shows that Tron has really "made it" at last!
along with the Trek, and the Wars.

I have Tron 2.0 on my collectors shelf* though didn't play much through it
(I'm oldschool arcade! don't really like 3d "FPS")
But might go ahead an boot it up again!
Is there anyone out there with a user data file / code (for the Mac OS version)
that I can add in with all levels unlocked?
Or maybe I'll just read one of your plot synopses to find what happened.
(there's also the PS3 game to investigate...)

Didn't like the new direction armor designs all that much.
(Though Tron L was even more shocking in that respect!)

I guess I did like the idea of MA3A, a benevolent OS replacing the evil MCP.
and virus / corruption / malware is a huge issue in today's systems,
it makes sense for a villain.

Fynn could have been influencing events in the real world from inside, as "The Puppetmaster" did in ghost in the shell.
