Myst Movie

on Sunday, September, 13, 2009 3:10 AM

Hey guys. Feeling sick with a fever at the moment but wanted to share something with you.

I just found out that someone is trying to make an indie film based on Myst. For those of you that don't know what Myst was, it was a PC game that was known to be one of the best point and click adventures ever. Although the adventure genre is all but extinct, apparently there is still a huge cult fan base that plays Myst religiously. I have to admit, it was one of the most remembered classic PC games I've played.

I haven't found out much information on it, but there is a website that is still active and these guys seem serious. If you are interested, check them out here:

Anyways, I thought this was something cool and wanted to share.

Could be a bit of a challenge to make it into a film since the protagonist doesn't speak, and there are very few characters in it at all. It was more a game about exploring a virtual environment. There's a story there, but I don't know if it's enough for a feature.

All the same, I'd very much like to see this done (and done well). Cool news.

I heard the DS version was terrible and that many elements from the original game were removed.

I only have the Sega Saturn port. Without an extremely rare memory cartridge, it's impossible to complete the game (I'd assume) because of how long it is.

Well, one thing about people who may have missed out on those type of games back in it's hay-day may find the game to look very dated. They did make an updated one called 'realMyst'. I haven't played it but I heard they improved the gfx a lot and added some extras to it.

I do agree that making this into a movie would be rather hard..

Anyways, if they can pull this off, I'd love to see it.

Qixxx I remember playing this game on a windows 3.1 486 machine with a whopping 50mhz and 8 megs of ram. I would agree that it would be hard to make this game into a actual film. where to buy abortion pill ordering abortion pills to be shipped to house buy abortion pill online

To compute or not to compute that is the question at hand. Tis nobler to compile in C++ or in TASM.

Wow... hearing 486 sure brings back memories. The first official PC I owned was a 486 DX (I could have sworn it was a 60mhz but it was most likely a 50mhz processor). I can't remember how much memory I had but I think it was about 4 mbs.

Games I remember playing on that system:

Doom
Tie-Fighter
X-Wing
One Must Fall 2097
Space Hulk
Blake Stone
7th Guest

there were many more...

I didn't play Myst till about 1996 on a Gateway 133 computer. I can't remember the first game I played on CD but I think it was Dragon's Lair for the PC. I could be wrong about that.

Yeah I know and here is what is really funny about this. And get this f you can follow me over here. The CPU that I was using over here was a Cyrix processor. a TI 50MhZ cpu with a Math co processor along side it. It was an actual 486 SX fitted or arrange in such a way that it would work on a 386 motherboard. And the BIOS itself was set in such a way that it would be able to recognized the processor itself and the Mathco-processor. In the early days of 8088, 286, 386 and 486's that were SX extensions. Did not have the math cpprocessors in them. I think Qixx would agree with me on that. THis one was one of those that required a math coprocessor in it in order to deal with the math and other mathematical stuff instead of dealing or leaving it with the main CPU. nowadays with the Pentium, amd's They all have the Math-coprocessors already built into them already. not like in the old days where the math coprocesors were always seperate.

Ok... I had to start a new thread for me and Compucore about PCs back in the early 90's. Comp and I really dig this stuff majorly.

Here is the new thread for early 90's computing memories:
