3d studio max question for lightcycles

Im hoping that someone here might have an answer but im wondering if there is a procedural way in 3d studio max to animate a light cycle model and have it leave the jetwall behind it. Particle generation seems the wrong approach. I had a plug in called ghost trails but it had no option for persistent trails. I know a few people here have done this.
