They're selling it for $17 bucks so it's worth more than $5.

I'm not that much of a collector when it comes to Tron stuff, but I buy all my music on vinyl, so this was one I couldn't pass up. When I get the chance I'll try to put up some better pics of the sleeve, the back has some quality shots from the movie. The inner sleeve was just a plain paper and anti-static plastic, no posters or anything. :P

I too have it on vinyl, As well as "The Story of TRON" I bought it in '82 when the movie came out. "Contains Journeys (new) Only Solutions" Ahhhh.

While Wendy Carlos's score for TRON holds a deep nostalgic place in my heart, I was never a huge fan of the work as a whole. I bought the soundtrack shortly before the movie came out because I was so jazzed about the release. When I put the record on, I expected to be blown away. Aside from some bright moments like "Miracle and Magician" and "TRON Scerzo (probebly because it's presentation in the arcade gaem), I was unimpressed. Istead of blowing electronic sounds, I found a creepy, uninspired collection of music that sounded dated, even by 1982 standards. Bear in mind, Digital Synths had been out by then, and MOOG's were around in the 70's. Why Ms. Carlos would focus on outdate analog v.s. digital (which, as she states in the CD liner notes, she only used for effects) is beyond me, when presenting a score for such a ground breaking film. As I said, the soundtrack, while filling a nostalgic place, has left me unfulfilled.
