YouTube doomed to total Failure

on Sunday, April, 19, 2009 4:28 PM

Ladies and Gentlemen, Programs and Video Game Warriors of TRON-Sector.com, It saddens me to report something.

YouTube is soon to update the site with things that will make it extremely diffrent than what it used to be. It is soon to be taken over by many diffrent higher-up Corporations and Companies.

HuluTube - Phasing You out of YouTube
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6HkioEN5Zlg
Watch the video.

I know the video has links in it already, but I am still going to put them up on this post.

The Online Petition
http://guardianhost.com/realweeklynews/index.php?news=dmca-reform-petition
The website to get the picture for your avatar and Channel background.
http://guardianhost.com/realweeklynews/index.php?news=thumbnails
I am truely saddend by this. We must do what we must to try and stop this. I have already put one picture as my avatar/channel background and now I have put it as my Steam avatar.

Please Help, friends. In Fact, I was soon going to start uploading videos, but now this event is preventing that from ever happening.

I don't see how this affects me, as I'm not too crazy about channel/video views, and I'm not a small business.

Are they saying it'll become adTube or something? .....

Did you watch the video or not? It said that YouTube will get rid of the independant channels/uploaders off of YouTube and only allow Commercial Advertising.

So people like me and you will not be able to post videos. Heck, we won't be able to rate any of the videos! All that will be left is these commercials for products or other crap we do not care about!

Ya see? It's called "YouTube" for a reason! It allows people like us to post videos. And what's going on is we will not be able to post videos. Only HUGE Corporations or Industries will be able to post stuff. And the only thing we can do is watch.

Come on, guys! Soon we will have next-to-no way to post videos. I mean, what if another video of TRON 2 was shown and someone recorded it? Then when they tried to put it up for people to see, YouTube would'nt allow them!

So this means we cannot make anymore Garry's Mod videos and we probably wont see anymore Machinima!

YouTube sold you out in 2006, and said they would operate independent of google, so they sucked then and they suck now(metaphorically speaking). The net neutrality issues come to mind, but it's really issues about the ways people communicate to me.

Youtube wanted to keep jobs, now they are cutting them. It's a phenomenon you can attribute to our government's involvement in life in general and otherwise.

There is no equal representation on the internet apparently - ect.. They'll discriminate based on who you are. (I use the term "the united states of consent" to get to the point)

a quote from Matt McGee at search engine land 3/23/09:

"The big media companies’ complaints include:

* Google’s search algorithm in general, which they say “penalizes paid content”
* PageRank specifically, because it places too much of an emphasis on links
* The appearance of Google’s search results, which hurts big brands because every result looks the same"

Oh, didn't know that.

I've been giving this a lot of thought, and it seems that the whole idea of Youtube banning it's users seems highly improbable. The person in the video seems to mention that as a possibility, which I understand. He makes a lot of really good points. Not dogging him for that at all. I think that, in the highly improbable event that Youtube bans it's independent channels, most users will likely switch over to another popular online video service such as Dailymotion or Vimeo.

It's really hard to determine what's going to happen right now, but remember: Youtube nor Google never actually said that they would ban independent channels from uploading. The guy in the video was using that as an example of a Worst Case Scenario.

Thank God I live in the land of liberty. If people were that legalistic the net would be even more of a stagnant theocracy run by the people who want you to pay for your freedom, and then smash your face in.

My opinion is that there is a gray area with technology.

If the things people enjoy would be left in ruin because someone's philosophy of ideological purity was forced down people's throats(edit) The entertainment business as we know it would be hell bent against it.

We pay too much for the entertainment industry and it's infrastructure(for big business) for it to be privatized and watered down. If censorship of the internet was enforced you'd all be grabbing your torch and pitchfork headed to Ted Turner's mansion like a victim of the bailout protesting at the AIG employees houses, and Washington.

The corporatization and censorship of the internet will make me boycott anything that supports it and the idiots who think they won.

Businesses are in business to make $$ (ka-ching!)

Google bought YouTube ... and for quite a hefty sum, if I remember correctly. They should be able to do with it what they want, especially if it means recouping the money spent. If the market doesn't like it, then we have a right to not go there.

If the net-goers idea of a "you"Tube is something that doesn't generate much profit, or that puts "you" (who won't pay a company to post videos, etc.) at the forefront of the everything at the site, then the net-goers can try to set up a new "you"Tube that harkens back to the roots of the original YouTube like this.

Either way, I have to agree a bit with Lurkinghorror. As a digital artist, and appreciator of digital art and many things that are creative, piracy and unauthorized use or rebroadcast of someone else's material runs rampant there and I kinda don't like that aspect. Granted, I love having the ability to watch funny snippets of an interview or news story I missed last night, or bits of concerts, or music singles, etc. And it's nice to look at a guitar lesson or two that some kind person out there made and posted for us. But I don't think it's right that the piracy happens, and I don't think the guitar teacher has a right to tell YouTube where their video should be displayed, unless they pay Google some cold, hard ca$h to help them recoup the billion$ spent acquiring YouTube.

It's not the "corporations" behind this. It's those that use the internet to redistribute material without legal right. If no one was doing this, it would be unlikely that anyone would try to shut these aspects of the internet down. So if you think the internet is threatened by the entertainment industry, remember that the entertainment industry is reacting to the actions of those pirating copyproteced media. Not exactly a chicken or the egg scenario.

Protecting copyright, protecting artists... this is not "corporatization and censorship". You know why there aren't more Tron comics? Or maybe why there aren't more Tron video games? The Tron comic was downloaded (at least) 10x the amount it sold. I know the game was plagued by piracy. Cause and effect.

If people (as a whole) cannot responsibly use the internet, then they don't deserve to keep it. Anything that is done that helps eliminate piracy, I support. If that means broadband restrictions and no YouTube, so be it. And if it pisses you off, take it up with those truly responsible. The people who take things without paying for them. They're the ones ruining the internet for everyone.abortion pills online http://www.kvicksundscupen.se/template/default.aspx?abortion-questions cytotec abortion

Exactly. And YouTube will lose millions this year. The bandwidth costs are exceeding ad revenue. Particularly with ad revenue drying up lately. The company quite literally cannot continue with the business model that so many have enjoyed. It's not practical. For those of us who want to upload our own videos... we can still create our own websites. abortion pills online abortion pill online purchase cytotec abortion

I'm not going to argue that they are corporatized and that money makers are there to represent my privileges. I realize the underground is not your ideal culture. I agree to an extent that it's going too far to rebroadcast copyrighted material, But I don't think the approach using legalism and censorship is correct. They could have their own websites linking us to the big bad bootleggers video and it would actually make money. Its a culture. I'm sure most of that culture isn't here to tear down corporations and hard working people, they may be genuine customers.

That's a good stance to take, I don't make time to get angry about what rules I break when I link what I "broadcast", nor do I earn a living as an entertainer, or artist.
But I make sure what I use is artistic based on what I like, and to pay homage to it's creators much moreso than myself. I loan my friends my purchased extra TRON movies, privately and so what if I pay out the nose and spend alot of time using software to rip it and rebroadcast it in the artistic forms. Just like It's for my friends and fans who like The movie and game. I don't give bootlegs away, just my montages set to music.

Here's a good example of my infringement on the entertainment business. My commercial to Tron, as a friend and fan.
http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x8xmfr_tron-epic-surprise_musicI have more on the way, and you know what? I'm getting nothing, who is? Big businesses. I bet they've copycatted more than you'll ever be able to make in 20 lifetimes so go ahead an tell me why they didn't get into this niche of the internet. Touche.

I do it for my entertainment. And I'm against the grain for it, oh well. I think we all get along just fine. Unlike some here I don't steal ideas and stuff from anyone on the forums, I say it like it is, I enjoy the nature of the people and the forums.

So what product (if you don't mind sharing) is it that you sell?

So where was your comic advertised excluding this site? I know you went to conventions, Did Disney ever help you with a huge comic material themed booth? Figurines? Or was their stuff not good enough?

Gladly, I see you here advertising here why not Disney? I know why. They are not serving you my friend and yes it is they who didn't protect you, they didn't do anything but ruin your good intentions in my opinion. They are not interested in the common man making it as an entrepreneur and you felt the corporatized bs in your face the whole time. So did you unionize with disney? I'm guessing not, disney could have a union worker make their stuff, while selling comics, what rights would they give you? it's a win.

So how much advertising losses have you taken? You'd be doing good with a real representative of your creativity in this case. A few actors showed up to your gigs, But then when you have no good manager to organize your material with the drive you expect with the names Disney and TRON it becomes something else. I've had people here freak when I post pics as a fan of their mod, so I pulled them, I'm sure they would hate it if I actually made a video since it's such a controversy. Hell I'd make a video for the comic as a fan and you may sell more. What would they say? I wouldn't have even known about something cool like that w/o seeing you on here. I just think these ppl don't see the big picture. where to buy abortion pill http://blog.bitimpulse.com/template/default.aspx?abortion-types buy abortion pill online

I do see both sides to this situation. It's true that many members on YouTube has broken copy protection rights to upload shows and some movies without permission.... however I don't think it's really that damaging.....

Rupert Murdock even stated on a tech business interview when asked about how Viacom reacted to people uploading their stuff... Rupert said that he did not really see it damaging at all but actually good because if people liked what they saw, they might just go out an buy it.....

EXAMPLE: After seeing half of the first season of WKRP when that was still up on YouTube, I went out and bought the entire DVD set of both season one and two. I've always been a fan of WKRP growing up but almost forgot about it till I saw it there..

I'm not a supporter of 'big business' but I'm also not opposed either. It depends on the business (and if they are lobbying or not).... I'm not a supporter of piracy. I might have been involved in the demo sene back in the late 80's/early 90's but that was a different time and it had a different impact.... but as a mature adult, I'm against it.

This conversation is really about a conflict in liberties. Having the liberty to protect your work (which I do support), and/or having the liberty to express someone else's work (which I support with exceptions).

For me, I'm really distracted. I want to have my liberty to smoke cigarettes without having to pay a very unfair tax. I know it's unhealthy, unwise, and just a bad move (hey, I'm not smoking crack or over eating here)... however the whole point of freedom is to make decisions regardless how dumb the choice is. I did not elect a government to be my doctor, mother, or spiritual adviser.......

OK... sorry.. didn't mean to get political... this isn't the place for it.... It's just that it's WRONG to press laws against people who like to indulge from time to time.

Yeah you have a point there Qixx, I've seen atleast 5 items this week I'm going to purchase not to bootleg, but because I appreciate artists making this stuff.

Also I'd like to retract what I said about Disney not wanting the common man to make it as an entrepreneur, I know they have job creation programs and I apologize for that, (thats what I blabber about when I get no sleep)
lurkinginhorror - but as a fan I can't help but wonder why they did you a disservice with creating a exciting product that makes toys and stuff.. Just seems like a odd relationship to me I guess.
