The decline of Hannah Montana?

on Monday, September, 22, 2008 11:49 PM
Okay, extrememly unlikely, but just read this:

According to Yahoo's horribly named "OMG":Rumor has it that Miley Cyrus is being a total brat on the set of her hit Disney show, "Hannah Montana." Us Weekly notes that there have been reports the tween queen shows up incredibly late to the set. In addition to being tardy, she allegedly told Disney execs that she'll only shoot 12 of the 24 planned episodes of her new season. If that's true, who does this girl think she is? Yes, she's sold millions of albums. Yes, her program nabs big ratings for the channel. Yes, her merchandising makes millions. But, let's be real ... without Disney's financial and creative support, Miley would only be known as Billy Ray's 16-year-old daughter!

I really hope that's true. Finally the end of all of this madness? While I predict this will be a very slow decline, it will be a decline nonetheless. Don't count on it being replaced by something that's actually awesome (hackcoughcoughhack), as it'll probably be replaced by another one of their identical backup shows.

At least it'll be the end of one incredibly annoying "artist". Up next, Jonas Brothers.

Nope, you're way off.

She's not leaving, apparently.

I mean, guys, if Hannah Montana bothers you so much, just ignore it. It's not going to go away until she gets too old for the role or whatever.

I mean, we still have freaking Barney on tv and I never liked that thing!

It all makes sense now.

That's why it's always important to practice safe set watching skills to prevent such outbreaks from occuring. Outbeak sideaffects include static vision, crapy mechandise and rumor mill burning sensation.order abortion pill abortion pill buy online where to buy abortion pill

Well, the thing is that Hannah Montana is advertised and marketed so much to the point where it's near impossible to ignore her. Barney isn't advertised constantly like HM is. What really gets to me is the constant adverts for it. It's primarily why I play video games, watch youtube, and hang around forums instead of watching TV. It's currently the only way to successfully get away from HM!

While we're on the topic of over-advertised Disney franchises, anyone see gameplay vids for the new High School Musical "dancing" game for the Wii? It seems like they completely ripped of Sega's recent failure Samba de Amigo (when I say failure, I mean it got low ratings from critics). Now, if you're gonna rip a game off, you should at least do it with a well known or successful franchise, not a game that scored an average of 5/10. It's similar to spamming on LDSO, LDSO gets, like what, 3-4 visitors/day. You're not gonna spam on a site that gets almost no traffic, no one will see your message.

Yey me and my horrible metaphors, lol.

I almost never see anything Hannah Montana related because I only watch tv strictly for Heroes, House, Bones (which hasn't been back on since World Series. Annoyed.), and Ugly Betty. Actually, retract that, I haven't seen anything HM on tv.

Nothing about Hannah Montana in real life either except for the cds that we have at the library where I work. That's just it.

Really, why is that so hard not to ignore it?

And as I said, I was right. :P

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/27461281/

Jeez. It happens every time there's popular fad, people complain and I used to complain when it was tacky stuff like Spice Girls or Britney. HM just seems ridiciously tame in comparasion so it's like, just extending way too much energy to complain about this which is why I think you guys are just outright silly to go "OH MY GOD. THIS IS TOO MUCH."

Sure, it did get excessive over last spring with commercials, but as of late... nothing.

And besides, I was complaining earlier because it seems with the influx of new people, my messages tend to go by unheard. (Which I suppose is to be expected when there's so many people rambling at once. *facepalms at self.*)

Not "Chuck"? Last week's episode was about terrorists hijacking a killer satellite that could only be disarmed by playing Missile Command while following a pattern set to Rush music.

It's a show about nerds, written by nerds for nerds!!!

It's easy to ignore (unless you work in the industry, so it's not so easy for me). But where is the fun in ignoring it? Railing against it is far more entertaining.

Besides, I think it's important to pay attention to cultural trends.

Just that you know, if you rail against it, I mean, what is that going to change?

But yeah, I suppose it can be difficult for some people to escape that sort of thing. Maybe I'm just too good at remaining oblivious to just about everything.

It certainly says a lot about where a culture is by watching the trends and collective mindset of those who are in to [whatever]. I find it amusing and scary at the same time.

Amusing: I read on the internet some time in 2000ish about one of the dumbest TV show concepts I've ever heard. People living on an island being put through trials and getting voted off by a tribunal. Survivor. I remember reading about how the show was financially successful before even airing because of the way the sponsorship worked out - profit was made before the show ever aired. What a crazy idea. I laughed reading about this new kind of game show. Glad they were profitable before airing because it won't last two episodes.

Scary: Survivor became one of the biggest TV sensations in a long time. People actually had "Survivor Parties" at the season finale. What? WFT?? More amazing than anyone wanting to watch such an absurdly stupid show... is them actually LIKING it. Although Survivor was not the first aired "reality show", it sure set the stage for countless other clones (and several direct sequels). I guess the stupidity was all mine - thinking the show would never work and thinking people needed something more than that for entertainment. What do I know? Well, I guess I know enough to stay the hell out of the entertainment industry seeing how I don't have a clue what today's audiences really crave.

I still find it amusing and scary for the same reasons, over and over and over.

And about rallying against Anna Banana - I know that show ain't going away any time soon, but it sure is fun to pick on it with guys at work. We ALL hate that stuff like that exists. Probably because we're all over the age of 12. And we all have younger family members (nieces, daughters, etc.) that eat it up.

BTW - was anyone else surprised to find out it was a live action TV show? I remember hearing about this show a year or two ago. Out of no where, Anna Banana seemed to be all over the place. It wasn't until thumbing through a department store ad that I realized she was a real girl (or played by a real girl) and not a cartoon. I initially thought it was just the latest cartoon sensation for kids until seeing a picture of her. Ok, maybe I'm alone here.

That very well may be it.

The only reason why I was cranky about the aforementioned musicians was because of the way they dressed ...

...yeah, I just don't get it. x_X

I'm just too good at remaining oblivious, unfortunately. I only pay attention to what interests me but still, I do manage to notice certain things. I just don't seem to feel like I've been over exposed at all, but that may be because my only exposure to things comes from seeing things visually.

I tend to do the same. I'm in my own little bubble of stuff I dig and don't really see much else. Of course, living in a world where information is so easily accessible, you pretty much can't watch anything on TV or get on the internet for more than a few page flips before finding out about something that is hugely popular with the masses, and yet completely meaningless to you (me).

I kind of wish I did get society's obsession with all that is dumb (dumb to me), but I don't. To the masses, most of what I dig is dumb. Oh well. I don't mind too much though. I'm used to being the oddball; the blacksheep; the guy who just doesn't get it; the weird-o; the long-haired freak; "that guy who actually liked TRON". What can I say - it's me. I can always come here and geek out among friends that I know I have at least a few quality things in common with.

EDIT:
LMAO!!! There was just a banner ad that read "Who is Hannah Montana's Father? Vote now for a chance to win $50,000!" (choices were Billy Ray Cyrus and Vince Gill). I actually laughed out loud. Ok, the whole thing irritates me, but crap-ads like that really do crack me up!

EDIT 2:
LMAOx2 There it is again! I'm totally gonna click it. I HAVE to see where this ends up.

EDIT 3:
LMAO SOB LAMO!!!!! This is what the landing page said:
"Sorry, but the current campaign is not supported: 43237"

Ok, I'm a really messed up weird-o, but I can't stop laughing right now. This really cracks me up!

...

Whew! My face is starting to hurt!!!
