Two little 'fresby headed' aliens are after you, but you can distract them by playing music (causing them to dance) or turning on the pop corn machine and the'll sit there and watch it... really cool game...

Wow, I'd love to compete in a tournament like that with you guys. Actually, that sounds kinda like the Highscore tournaments they have on the Guitar Hero website. It's a tournament for a select number of songs in the PS3, 360, or Wii versions of Guitar Hero 3 or Guitar Hero Aerosmith, and you try to get the highest combined highscore for those three songs on the difficulty you signed up for. Once I was at 6th place on the leaderboards in the Expert division in a GHIII tournament.

Anyways......

Any idea if that emu will work on Windows 95? I've got a really old 95 computer that runs DOS (and Windows) based emus (except for ZSNES, I dunno why..) almost perfectly.

Ok... so.... anyone interested in a competition?

Let's find a game that we all can agree with... If anyone is new to C64 gaming and would like to join, then once we agree on a game, how about we give it a week for everyone to be up to speed and then we'll post screen shots of our high scores..

When we did "Yar's Revenge" for the 2600, it really wasn't that we were trying to out do anyone... but just really having a shared experience. It was really fun... I just would love to do it again..

If you are using WinZip..... (if not... get it) then you shouldn't have any issues...

From what I understand... you may want to try using VICE with Vista..

I think KICK would be a good game to start with... That or 'Spare Change' (sorry)... bias here.. If you want to try the game, follow this link..

There are so many wonderful games for this... if You really need any help whatsoever... ask me... I'm sort of a C64 freak...

I suggest "Bruce Lee" as a simi first experience... Don't forget to 'swap the joystick' if you are playing with a controler (which I suggest).. just bring down the drop down menu since most of the games use 'player 2' as player 1...

The games I downloaded the other day did work. It took me a while to figure out they were PAL version ROM's rather than NTSC though. Mummy's Tomb is just as lame as I remember it. Only think I liked about that game is that it played "Light My Fire" by The Doors when you picked up a torch.

After figuring out the games were PAL version, I went back to try Rescue on Fractalus in PAL mode as well. I downloaded the ROM some time back but couldn't get it to work.

Yep, PAL mode did the trick!

Man, I SERIOUSLY wish I had this game for my C64 back in the day. It is exactly the kind of game I would have gotten lost in for hours on end. My friend had it for his Atari 800, but I only got to play it (watch him play mostly) a few times before he got bored of it. What an awesome game for 1984. It sported some pretty damn impressive 1st person game play about 10 years before most other games were offering a true 1st person perspective. It only played at about 7 or 8 frames a second, but that was decent, given the 64 KB of memory and 1MHz processor they had to work with.

I enjoyed almost an hour in this game the other night. If only I could go back and give my younger self the money to get this gem of a game. Lack of funds really put a damper on my younger gaming years. Many of my games were pirated back then. If I couldn't find a free copy or convince someone to buy me one for my birthday or Christmas... I simply never got to enjoy it. I used to mow lawns for money back then, but I had to mow a LOT of lawns to get just enough for one game, so I never got many. People weren't willing to pay much for a lawn mowing then - at least not in my neighborhood.

You know - I'd love to do another game score thing like we did with Yars' Revenge, but I don't have time for much these days. I might have better luck closer to winter because there'll be less yard work to deal with and I should (hopefully) be caught up with my home repairs/maintenance by then.
