Just tried out the Wii version of Rock Band, here's a breif overview:

-It does have 5 extra songs, one of which you start out with: Roxxane

-You cannot create your character or choose a venue, as the background video stuff is CD video, and therefore cannot be altered.

-Has some different guitar effects than the PS2 version. I.E. Flanger and Chorus.

-Harmonix will make "Track Packs" available, which will be made up of DLC from the 360 and PS3 versions. These will be sold as disks, which will (assumingly) install the new songs to the Wii's hard drive.

-Each controller has Wiimote-Esque lights on them to indicate player numbers for each instrument.

-Overall: If you have the PS2 version and you have a Wii, sell the PS2 version and use the money you get from that on the Wii version. None of the PS2 instruments work with the Wii, so if you do sell your PS2 version, sell all the instruments that came with it, too. Also, please note that the Wii version is $10 more than the PS2 version. It probably shouldn't be, because Wii games cost as much to make as PS2 games. Even better, you could wait 'till this Fall and get Guitar Hero World Tour if you have a Wii. It's basically an ungimped version of Rock Band.

EDIT: The Track Pack for Rock Band will also be released for PS2. Both the Wii and PS2 versions of the Track Pack will be standalone disks, meaning that you do not need the original game to use it. WARNING! IGN has confirmed that there is a lag on the instruments for the Wii version of Rock Band. IGN also confirmed that the sound and video quality is compressed so that all 63 songs can fit on the disk. Rock Band 2 has been confirmed for a September 2008 release and will supposedly have 120 songs on the disk. Guitar Hero World Tour comes out October 27, 2008 and will have over 85 songs, all master recordings.

I'd say wait for Guitar Hero World Tour. It's got way more features than Rock Band, plus online multiplayer. And you can make your own songs (like the TRON theme, hehe).
