I just bought a new MicroSD card for my phone. My old one works fine in both my phone and PC (read it on PC with a USB card reader). The new card, a SansDisc 2GB MicroSD card works fine in my phone, but the computer won't read it. It just hangs up the PC while trying to read it. I can move files back and forth between it and the phone just fine, but the PC won't read it. Grrrrrr.

Recap:

* 1GB MicroSD works on phone and PC can read it
* 2GB MicroSD works on phone BUT PC cannot read it
* Todd is too dumb to figure out the problem

I asked the internet and found a couple people with my problem, but no useful information was contained in what I found.

Any ideas?

Yeah, that sucks, but card readers aren't too expensive so I guess no big deal. Just an annoyance.

I'll try another reader. Perhaps my current reader is older technology than the way the new card was designed... or something like that.

Ah Todd what what file allocation table set at? Standard fat, fat32, NTFS, Linux/unix ext3??? If the file allocation table is not know it might not work.

I think you meant 2GB, but yeah - it does seem small. I was going to get the 4GB card, but my phone needs a program update for it to properly recognize all 4GB, so I just went with the 2GB card for now. Don't feel like getting my phone flashed by Vending Wireless for now.

It's just FAT32, but that wasn't the problem.

Yep, I bought a new 5-in-1 card reader today - a SanDisc reader for my SanDisc 2GB card. I figured can't go wrong with the company that made the card, right? My old reader still works fine, but it won't recognize my 2GB card - just the 1GB one and my crappy Sony 8MB (yes, just megga, not gigga) memory stick. It was a good reader for the $8 I paid for it a year and a half ago.

I appreciate the input, all. I love the fact that most TRON fans are also pretty savvy tech-geeks as well. I just I were just a little smarter in that field myself!

The only problem with that, is that most of the less expensive card readers are no-name brands. So finding a firmware update for those is next to impossible. You can only do that with more expensive, brand name models. Most people don't think the extra cost for having a name on the reader is worth it, much of the time. And sometimes the chip in the reader is just plain too old and outdated to support newer cards.

Both of my readers are no-names, but luckily the newer one I bought has worked well with every card I've thrown at it.

Kia depends where you can find them so cheap. For me I usually go through Distribution centers that tend to buy and sell sometimes in Bulk orders and they tend even for guys like me when you buy 3 or more of the same item like 2.5 external hard drive cases for example the prices go down a little bit here and there. But take a look here at one that I went to not too long ago. The sell card readers externally to connect to a usb port for about $7.75 for one or if you want to use like a 5.25 faceplate for a little more. But if your a good geek and kow where to connect them inside the computer. You can get the done yourself.
