iGame3D for Mac and PC

on Wednesday, March, 12, 2008 10:38 PM
Greetings Programs!

I didn't see a section just for newly captured conscripts so I'll just use this holding cell to introduce myself, my work and my ideas.

My name is Bill and I'm half of the iGame3D team.
Here's our site
Its an open source 3D game engine that we've been making for six years with many changes and improvements. Tobi, the programmer, was sixteen when we started, a bit of info I like to mention to inspire some of you budding young programmers out there.

Basically I'm pimping it here because I'll poke around a game idea in the games section later on. I'll also need to provide a download of the current version for folks not savvy to SVN protocol. I'm on a Mac and my Windows emulator handles 3D like a null-unit, so we'll have to see what happens.

Only Solutions,
Mr Bill from iGame3D

Looking around to see if Todd is around then comes out and says.
Greetings, iGame3D and welcome to TRON-Sector!

A couple of threads you may want to hit are:

What's with your name?

And...

Don't forget to PING in every time you have yourself Another dose of TRON

I think you'll enjoy your time here at The Sector

I was wondering if you were also going to considered if it is possible of making it on a linux varient as well? I know if your on OSX your about half way there since OSX is a BSD unix varient OS. I'm using as an alternative ubuntu linux over here which is good for both MAC and PC based machines.

VROOOOOOOOOMMMM!!!

To compute or not to compute that is the question at hand. Tis nobler to compile in C++ or in TASM.

Well if I was the programmer I might be tempted to do linux, but Tobi's the C overlord and has never touched linux (they study on Solaris at school WTH?!?!). It would be great if we found someone on linux willing to port.

I met my wife while I was selling computers, she came in looking for Linux. Eight years later I have yet to actually see linux running on anything other than youtube. Maybe someday I'll hack the broken xbox to run it.

Was just dropping back in to tease you with a screen shot of some free models I pulled together tonight and threw into iGame3D. Poor TRON really needs a pro UV map job. I've been so busy trying to make interfaces and writing scripts I've not modeled or done this UV map stuff more than twice a year during the past six. Anyway here's temptation:

And here's a (10 meg!) mix I made with the awful defunct groovemaker program back in 2000. Sounded great in the program but the mp3 export cut my samples off..damn them.
Its not all bad. Enjoy tronmixmix.mp3

Greetings, iGame3D and welcome to TRON-Sector!

Uh... uh oh! Looks like Compucore beat me to me to the standard, substandard greeting! I hate when he does that. I'll get you, Compucore, and your little Bit too! he he

Glad you decided to join us here after lurking about on and off for so long. Looks like you're just jumping right in and have loads of TRON coolness to share with your fellow TRON fans. I think you'll fit in quite nicely.

You watched TRON every Friday for the first 4 years of your daughter's life? Wow! That's some serious TRON love, AND and a good way to make a new TRON fan of your daughter. I can't believe you gave away your TRON 20th Anniversary DVD though. Seems like it was for a good cause though. I'm sure he'll find some great inspiration in TRON. All of us here are greatly inspired by the film in some way or another. TRON has a way of bring out the creative side in its fans.

Too much stuff to comment on right now. You're just loaded with cool things to share! Excellent!

Care to give away your extra copy of the novel, like you did the DVD? I'd love to have a copy of the novel!

I'm kidding, of course. I used to have the novel when I was a kid. But sadly, I lost it. I never picked it up again because it was a bit hard to find, and also for a while sellers were asking a ransom for it. I believe that, now, the price has come back down to a reasonable level. I really should grab a copy of it.

Anyway, welcome to Tron-Sector and I hope you enjoy your visits. My wacky way of greeting you, notwithstanding.

I have credit at the bookstore that has the novel.
I'm planning on getting there soon and just grabbing every copy.
I'll let you know how that works out.

Or you can order whats available at:
The Attic BookstoreDamnit, I searched their site and nothing is there.
In June there were five copies more than the one I bought.

Everyone should read the book. There was a big discussion full of nonsense here on the forums that would have benefited from people knowing what they are talking about. The book explains a lot, and puts you into the characters and the system much deeper than the movie.

I read it several times and did my eighth grade book report on it. That teacher lost it and said "write it again"...I didn't do jack in that class for the next six months, writing BASIC code and game scenarios instead.
