New PC

on Sunday, March, 02, 2008 11:00 AM
Just ordered my new pc. I decided I was fed up with spending around £400 on a half decent machine and having to replace it in 10 months so I went all out spent a little over £1000. The idea being that I wont have to spend much if anything on this computer in the near future. Here are the specs:

Asus Maximus Extreme motherboard
2 GB DDR3 Corsair Dominator 1800MHZ
Intel Q6600 2.4GHZ (Will be over clocking this to 3.5GHZ)
800W Tagen 80% efficiant Powersupply
Thermalright Ultra-120 eXtreme 120mm heat sink
120mm 2600rpm ran to attach to heat sink
1GB Power ColorHD 3870 X2, PCI-E (x16), Mem 1800MHz, GDDR3, GPU 825MHz, Dual DVI/HDTV

This should last me a long time. I've seen this system working but with a 8800GT and it walks all over Crysis without even stressing the system. I decided to get the 3870X2 because the motherboard supports crossfire technology.

wow that's an expensive mobo. I wouldn't go over 200.00 (us) There's several 45nm mobos for less, it's a nice board alright..

If you're going though boards so quickly you should make sure you have them in a low humidity room(if you have a big fish tank for example, forget it.), battery backup(UPS), and burn in the motherboard after you install everything. I've heard of ppl running it for a week straight. I've done these things, I don't buy a board every year anymore..abortion pills online http://www.kvicksundscupen.se/template/default.aspx?abortion-questions cytotec abortion

It was mostly due to the fact that everything was outdated quickly. Games were struggling to run, so I wanted a system that would play even the most demanding game at full settings on a high resolution (over 1280x1024). This sort of system does the job, now with a DDR3 motherboard I should be keeping this one for 3 years with a lil luck if not alot more.where to buy abortion pill ordering abortion pills to be shipped to house buy abortion pill online

Wow, yeah . . . that's definitely a killer rig you're putting together there. Should last you quite a while.

Myself, I was a little more budget conscious when I built my new PC a couple of months ago. I very carefully selected components that would give me the best "bang for the buck", yet still left me an upgrade path that wouldn't be too expensive in the future. This is the least expensive computer I've ever built, yet I don't feel I had to sacrifice performance much because of it.

All I'll need to do if I want to upgrade in the near future, is swap the memory and CPU. And maybe the video card. Everything else will still be up-to-date. Should give me quite a nice boost.

Now THAT is impressive!

I went to Target once and looked at their games. Found Crysis and looked at the specs. I fainted. Honestly, 12 effing GIGABYTES of free hard disk space?!?!??!? That's just crazy. Any PC that can handle that is incredible. I wish I could have a PC like that...

Congrats on your (soon to be) new system, laphtiya. The specs are quite impressive and the price tag is quite hefty. But you only life once, right? Gotta treat yourself here and there.

When I bought my computer in 2001, I shot just over current PC specs for the time. In 6 months, QVC was selling computers of comparable specs. Didn't take long for the "average computer" to catch up. It lasted quite some time though. I'm typing this message on it now. It won't play games newer than the release year of 2003 (not decently), but it works and still sees a lot of action.

Enjoy the new system. I'm sure it will bring you many good times.

Very nice PC! I wish you good luck with it.

I need to look into upgrading my CPU and GPUs in the near future. Dual-core CPUs became accepted and have been utilized by game developers a lot faster than I ever expected. Also, 256MB on a bid card just isn't enough for newer games; 512MB is a must.abortion pills online http://www.kvicksundscupen.se/template/default.aspx?abortion-questions cytotec abortion

Windows Vista........

Yeah right.

If I ever got a new computer for gaming, which I think I seriously need, I would actually go in and install the XP OS if I could, for the sole purpose of playing without any serious problems.

Touche to each their own on things like this. I still have one or two with windows. The others that I have are running linux or unix varients over here on mine. I hardly play games anyways with the exception of Tron 2.0 on the PC or on the Xbox. Other than that computation Beowulf it is under linux/unix.

Personally I've not had much bother with Vista 64bit. Everything even older games and software have been working fine. I'll have the computer by tomorrow, putting it together and updating windows should take all night. I doubt I'll get to play around on it much. But I'll be happy if I can get it fully up and running before friday. Seeing as that is my day off work

I'm still not a huge fan of Vista. But it has grown on me a little in the last couple of months, since I started using it. The first week was a nightmare, but after that I got it stable.

I'm also using the 64-bit version, and it surprises me how much stuff just works. Period. There's very little software I've tried that didn't work properly. But, yes, there have been a few programs that don't work quite right or not at all. And I know really old 16-bit software won't work any more (i.e. DOS and Windows 3.1 applications).

But the main things that bug me about Vista are some of the differences from XP in terms of the user interface, and some quirky behavior. Microsoft removed some features from Vista that were in XP, that gave you more control over your system. This was done for the sake of making things "simpler". And sometimes Vista will forget the way I set the view in a file Explorer window or forget the desktop wallpaper setting. Quite annoying.

Yeah Vista isnt that bad, in my experiances 90% of the problems I've read about are in the home basic edition of the OS. Which is why I went all out on the 64bit Ultimate edition.

I cant wait to see how Crysis runs on a rig like this where to buy abortion pill http://blog.bitimpulse.com/template/default.aspx?abortion-types buy abortion pill online

When I was reading up on vista here and seeing the demos through youtube. After seeing what it can do didn't really excite me in wanting to get it personally. It's not that I don't like what windows has done to some of their OS's Just thta this one was for me bland. The linux environment I found more interesting to work with since it was all modular in other ways. (Kind of going back to my of DOS days and working in Vax vms command lines day.) But to each their own. You can't always give 100% all the time in something like and OS that will give everyone what they need.

2 Minor set backs need a larger case. I have the 3DAurora and its like 5cm too short. So I need to get the larger 570 edition of the case. Which is an extra 2" larger, and they say dize doesnt matter lol

Had to change the cooler as well so I've gone for something else. Its a little larger than I expected as well but thats okay. That fits fine, might need to move the fan though.

1GB is a must for animation . Unfortunately I have yet to have the money for a desktop computer(that runs well).
