This isn't a mini game. I'm going to try to have stuff that the GBA version didn't. Maybe a level where you have to use the search light to find a certain rogue program...

Also, this game is in 2-D, unlike the 3-D minigame in the GBA game.

I'm about to start working on the demo level again. This level will be in the full game as "Standard-Substandard Training". Be aware that the game takes place during the original movie, so I may be able to throw in an old 80's computer joke here and there.

The training level will consist of several rooms that will contain exercises to better your pilot skills. It's all surprisingly going very smooth. Each room will contain a maze-like area that will require a different skill or combination of skills in order to get through.

If anyone has suggestions, feel free to post somewhat of a "want" list.

Well, due to the deadline for the demo it will not have music. And I believe I have explained my MASSIVE hate for release date deadlines before. There are so many games that simply could've been better or have more content if they were delayed more, however, that would cause impatience among potential customers. Duke Nukem Forever is a prime example.

As for your first request, yes. I decided a long, long time ago that I would definitely have levels like that. I'll try and make it so that you can switch the search light on and off, or just have it on, I dunno. I'll come up with something interesting.

Sweet and awesome. It's likely I will need some help eventually, hehe. I might have some cutscenes that consist of still images. They'll have captions that show who's saying what, kinda like some old NES and GB games. I wont have any of those in the demo tho, so you shouldn't worry about what to make yet.

Also, I may have the .exe ready to go on Thursday, but considering we have little experience with the UI for adding files to our website, it may be late Thursday or maybe even early Friday, but DEFINITELY NOT SATURDAY, lol.

Anyways thank you, very much. I think this is the first time a member of TS has actually made a good game (well a demo at least).
BTW I liked how integrated the "drifting" into the Recognizer. Very cool.
I hope I can download it soon.

The "drifting" part was actually easier to do than regular stop and go. Simply put:

30 Steps = 1 second
For each "step" you hold down the arrow key, .5 is added to the speed value for that particular direction.

Hey, I didn't rate the demo of User Error, did I?
And yes, I did kinda cram the entire game into one day, and I did write the review rather quickly... maybe I have no life. For instance, I spent all of tonight looking back and forth from all of the online games and forum accounts I have, waiting for something to happen. Thanks, TRON.dll, for breaking a seemingly endless loop of website surfing.

But back on topic:

Why don't you use 7? I seem to remember free upgrades for registered Users (meaning you can keep your registered status), and I know from first-hand experience that you can transfer .gm6's to .gmk's (the GM 7 file extension). Don't sue me if I'm wrong!

I have non-registered 7, and I have no plans of ever making games with it. Not enough experience.

I believe at the time 7 came out, I was working on a game and 6 kept crashing on me. I figured it was my computer, which was, sadly, a valid idea. Because of that, I figured that my PC couldn't handle 7 (Yet another valid assumption..). Besides, I'm happy enough with 6.1, hehe.

BTW, anyone know what ever happened to the original PDF tutorials? I wanted to try and make a game with online multiplayer, but all the tutorials dissapeared when they got bought by YoYo or whatever.. Anyone know where to find them, or is it time to join the GameMaker Forums?

Wow, I use to have GameMaker 6.1 and 7. Never was really good with it so then I decided to take a Qbasic class instead.O.O.

Then I went A complete 360 and took a html class. Soon now I'm going to take another u-turn and head to c#. O.O;

I have finally determined that it is time.

Time to allow all of my fellow conscripts to try the long awaited demo of RECOGNIZER!!

Well, that and I was kind of rushing to get the demo out before Saturday. So, unsurprisingly, there is one problem:

On the main menu, there's a button that allows you to view the game info. I forgot to finish that part.

This means that no one was credited, unfortunately. If it really bothers someone, drop me a line and I'll have an updated version up ASAP.

I played it, and it was excellent!
I might help you with the level sprites (The grid.ect) if you want,
Also here is a suggestion.
When you use the spotlight in the demo, the bits should be much darker so it would be hard spotting them!
