Digital Gore

So, I was kind of flipping through Tron scenes today and caught this image:

I don't think I ever noticed it before, but when Tron's disc passes through the guy it blows a hole in him and some of his digital guts go flying out the back.

Pretty brutal stuff Neat effect though.... goes by very fast.

I think I remember seeing this when Tron was going against the four other in that Plus size arena. Its there only for a fraction of a second there when the guy falls back.

VROOOOOOOOOMMMM!!!

To compute or not to compute that is the question at hand. Tis nobler to compile in C++ or in TASM.

Isn't it amazing how pretty much any single frame of TRON is like a beautiful digital/electronic work of art? I think that's very impressive, ESPECIALLY for a film of that time.

I noticed that kind of stuff a while back. I even noticed that Sark's head split and some of his digital brain matter was displaced in TRON's fatal blow to him. I thought it was really cool.

I like that kind of thing. I'm not a sick-o or anything... or maybe I am, I guess that's a matter of opinion. I think in scenes and events like this, there should be something that gives it the dramatic effect, a little shot factor, and a definite feeling of finality to it.

I remember as a kid, seeing Star Wars in 1977. The fact that it actually showed blaster bolts hitting people and causing burns/smoke flashes on them really sold the effect to me as well as made the battles seem that much more intense. It didn't feel like a kiddie movie to me and I really liked. Of course, Mr. Lucas removed all that stuff in the tarnished "Special Edition" (special as in should have been wearing a helmet!), but thank God I was able to get a DVD of the original, original trilogy that still had those cool effects in there.

Yeah - I like effects like that. Like I said - they make the scenes work better in my book... and they're just cool.

While the warrior programs being derezzed by Tron look cool, I agree with you that nothing can compare to the scene with Sark's brain spilling out.

I guess I'm twisted, but that was one of the best moments in the film to me. That's probably because I felt it was a really cool way for Sark to receive his comeuppance.

Plus for me it backed up the statement "I'm also better than you!"

BAM!
