That is indeed it. The Identity discs they wear are smaller and have a different design on them. The throwing disc is larger and has multiple rings.
Kind of odd to have that difference in my opinion.
So why did you think that wasn't it?

So I'm not crazy! I always thought the disk RAM twirled was thicker, and the one TRON threw was like a Frisbee.

Yeah but if you take a look at the first one as well. THat is the same identity disk as flynn has in his hands. So it is not the disk that they are holding or on their back. Look side by side on both pictures the disks are both of Sarks disks. And the one on flyyns back is the standard substabdard disk given to all scripts in the movie. The only thing that I can se that is really different between the two images. Flynn has that cover that goes over the left side shoulder that is slightly ajar on the back side exposing the disk better on the back side. Where as in the original image or the first image I should say does not show at all or can be seen over there. Please tell me I am close or getting white hot to the point of seeing metal just evaporate.

Cool images!
I noticed that TRON had two discs pretty quickly in the first.
As for Flynn, I'm not sure what's different. All I can think is that his reserve disc (on his back) is slightly smaller than his action disc (in his hand). That may just be an optical illusion though.

Because I incorrectly assumed that characters carrying two discs were going to be par for the course for this series of photographs.
