Flynn's From The Past

on Saturday, September, 15, 2007 12:37 AM
I was walking past a bookstore in Burbank Mall today, and I noticed on the cover of the book below something very familiar. Flynn's.

Yes, on the right side of the image that is a westbound view of the Flynn's Arcade building.

Turns out the building is a local historical landmark called the Hull Building. It was built in 1925 and will remain forever if the City of Culver City has it's way. That's good to know.

Here is one additional image of the building with some brief historical info. Hope you have enjoyed going into the back history of.....TRON.

I personally like the billboard on top of the building. "White King" Soap? You know they could never get away with naming something like that today.

The White King is a chess piece. I looked them up... their logo consisted of a white king from the playing cards.

I just was kind of 1/2 musing that having a "white king" as a name would be considered offensive in today's overly sensitive world. I doubt the name would even be considered to be honest.

doctorclu Wroter a Dave and Busters....

I was actually disappointed in Dave And Busters. I went into the one in Manhattan and found it to be more like a Chuck-E-Cheese than an actual video game arcade. Maybe others are different.
