Okay - Here goes and please be gentle!

Below you will find my most recent draft of a screenplay I've been working on - well, the first nearly 20 pages of it. It's from a story idea my college roommate and I had and it's been swimming in my mind for about 10 years now.

Keep in mind I've never written a screenplay before, so I'm sure the formatting isn't perfect.

What I want to know is do you, as fellow sci-fi/fantasy geeks, find it of any interest at all?

You should know that this is just the background info for the film. This would be like the opening of the film, setting up the world that the story would actually take place in during its full run.

This would also be the first part of a trilogy - it's a pretty friggin' big story! Let me know what you think (if you have time to read it)!

Well, without further adieu, I give you my first 20 pages of:

The Crystals of Cyleria: Chapter One - The Crimson Star

EXT. SPACE

Diamond-white stars sparkle across the dark void of space revealing the planet of Cyleria, an celestial beauty covered with silvery, reflective land masses and vast oceans.

NARRATOR (v.o.)
This was Cyleria, the shining star of the Norelon galaxy. A planet full of life, its people adept in the ways of technology, science and magic.

EXT. Cylerian atmosphere

Moving closer, the land masses reveal themselves to be massive cities filled with towering, crystalline structures surrounded by lush fields of golden wheat and green grass.

NARRATOR (V.O.)
It was a planet of peace and understanding; a planet on the brink of a discovery so great, yet one that would lead to a catastrophic war that would alter the face of our world forever.

EXT. ROYAL CITY OF SENTRESSA

The Royal City of Sentressa literally gleams from light reflections coming off of the shiny surfaces of its buildings, its skies filled with flying vehicles - "gyrolights" - making it alive with activity and motion.

EXT. MINISTRY OF THE MAGICAL ARTS AND SCIENCES

One of the most glorious structures is the Ministry of the Magical Arts and Sciences, a building that exudes nobility and honor, as well as the beauty of a people whose ability to discover knows no limits.

NARRATOR (V.O.)
The great thinkers and sorcerers of Cyleria had conquered every great frontier their planet, even their galaxy had to offer.

INT. MINISTRY OF THE MAGICAL ARTS AND SCIENCES

Teams of scientists are working on holo-computers, which have no physical presence, merely showing as three-dimensional images of light.

NARRATOR (V.O.)
Their scientific and magical discoveries had solved every major problem, yet offered one final question: we have seen the ends of our universe, but could there be another universe to discover - one within another dimension?

Sorcerers, members of the Archimage Elite, use telepathic abilities to move pieces of the Crimson Star satellite base into place.

NARRATOR (V.O.)
It was this question that led to the development of the Crimson Star.

Some mages cast spells that instantly create mindless creatures to carry large slabs of a gleaming, translucent metal to various parts of the base.

NARRATOR (V.O.)
The Crimson Star was the pinnacle of our knowledge and abilities, a satellite base that would unlock the greatest mysteries of the universe.

Others are casting spells to help build the structure - flames to melt the slabs into particular shapes and ice to cool them so they can be instantly assembled into place.

NARRATOR (V.O.)
With it, our scientists would track the existence of other dimensions and, when contact was made, be able to open a door between Cyleria and new worlds. The possibilities for the future seemed limitless. We were so very wrong.

The mages create these spells not as if magic is a special, secretive thing; rather, as any construction worker would work with a crane or a jackhammer.

It's good, but...

I like the idea of a society being able to exploit science, sorcery, and psionics equally well. It's an interesting conceit that to my knowledge hasn't seen much if any use outside of comic books, RPGs, and maybe one toyline before.

Now, the 'but...' is how the bad guys enter the picture. Specifically, the research station in space opening a gate to a dimension from which evil eminates.

It's very DOOM. It reminds me of that Babylon 5 movie Thirdspace. The movie Event Horizon comes to mind, also. Does it qualify as hackneyed yet? I don't know.

However, that's my only real nitpick. It's not even that big of a nitpick; there's only so many ways to introduce a heretofore unknown overwhelmingly superior bad guy and this is one of the big ones.

I can totally get what you're saying, MM.

What you don't know is that in the second chapter it is revealed that the Sil-Ghul are actually on the same planet, just in another dimension. They have these power crystals there, only they don't work on their side.

They aren't all evil. Their planet is about to go "boom" thanks to their sun, so they have been waiting for a new world to inhabit. They come through ready for war so that they can save their race.

They're not evil so much as much as they are aggressive.

Some Sil-Ghul will actually ally themselves with Cyleria before it's all said and done due to the concept of honor and accepting fate versus bringing doom on innocents.

But, I sincerely appreciate your input, Mutoid Man! Thanks for taking time to even read it!order abortion pill abortion pill buy online where to buy abortion pill

You're welcome!

Actually, it was my pleasure to read it; as I said, you combined and made good use of some interesting yet not often used ideas.

The rest of the story as you described it does sound very cool. If this ever hits the theaters, I'd go see it.

I sincerely appreciate that, MM!

This story (and I can see the whole thing, but it takes a LOOOONNNNG time to write it) is something that sci-fi/fantasy geeks like us would dig.

In other words - it's a love letter to folks like us!

I'll keep you updated on how it comes along, folks! I just wanted to see if you guys thought it was a neat universe to play in or not!where to buy abortion pill ordering abortion pills to be shipped to house buy abortion pill online

Yes it is; on top of savagery, super-science, and sorcery - gotta love Thundarr - you've got psionics and sliding. I think the only thing missing is time travel. You throw that in the mix and you've got the makings of the ultimate sci-fi/fantasy movie without having resorted to either elves & orcs or steampunk.on line abortion pill misoprostol dose abortion medical abortion pill online

Oh, you KNOW I love me some Thundarr the Barbarian, MM!

Ookla the Mok FTW!

What's funny is that in creating all of this stuff (including an entire list of characters - the main ones of the three chapters - who haven't even been introduced yet) is that I really want it to have a lived-in, REAL quality to it.

Much like the LOTR trilogy, I want people to really FEEL the loss of a character or their victories.

It's a long road, but I hope I can deliver it if only to read!
