Rob Zombie's Halloween

on Thursday, September, 06, 2007 2:20 AM
Has anyone else seen this movie yet?

In my opinion this movie is quite possibly better than John Carpenter's original.

I found myself jumping out of my seat and recoiling in horror more than a few times, which is always a good sign.order abortion pill http://unclejohnsprojects.com/template/default.aspx?morning-after-pill-price where to buy abortion pillwhere to buy abortion pill abortion types buy abortion pill online

I'm not going to rail and scream at remakes of old classics, after all from what I've seen of Rob Zombie he isn't just out to make a buck off a known franchise, but instead wants to recapture that special mix of fear, excitement, and nostalgia and repackage it into something tht the more jaded younger generations would appreciate.

I might not have really liked the hills have eyes. However I feel comfortable with Zombe doing the work here as he both has experiance as a film maker and is a fan of the movies he's remaking, so he's very likely going to do his best to make sure they don't suck.

I had no idea Rob Zombie was involved in the latest Halloween film. I've only seen very short snippets of the commercials for it - I don't watch much TV and really hate commercials so I either skip over them watching almost exclusively prerecorded shows, or simply flip through channels during them if watching live TV.

My initial thought was "What? ANOTHER Halloween movie? Haven't they beat this thing in to the ground about 3 or 4 movies ago?" No interest whatsoever.

But Rob Zombie ranks pretty high in my book. I'm not familiar with all of his work, but I'm a fan of his music and his film House of a Thousand Corpses was awesomely disturbing. The wife and I both loved it!

That puts this film on my gotta-see-it list. I may not catch it in the theater, but it is definitely something I want to check out now.

Thanks for posting about it, MutoidMan.

Halloween was always my fav scary movie so much so I dressed up as Michael Myers on my 18th birthday party complete with blue jumpsuit and mask :-D it was on friday the 13th so it was halloween themed party in the middle of April lol.

This new version does look as if it will knock the spots off the original. From the trailer you see many scenes that were in fact part of the original movie. It seems that Robs version of the movie is just an update. But in a good way, keeping very true with the original just shooting it with modern movie techniques.

And Tronartist you should go to Bruce Campbells website not only is there a line up for Evil dead 4 but a remake of the original too.

I always did favor "The Shape" over all of the other famous slashers (e.g. Jason and Freddy). There was always something far more believable about Michael Myers. Michael isn't some unstoppable, supernatural, fantastic monster; Michael is very plausible - at least in the first couple of movies he is - and is therefore far more terrifying, at least to me.

Rob's take on Halloween focuses much more on the hows and whys of Michael Myers, stripping Michael of his one mysterious element, i.e. why a little kid snapped and started brutally murdering people. In the process of demystifying Michael, Rob has made him even more plausible, and therefore even more terrifying then he's ever been.

Bravo, Rob! Bravo!

A boogyman that could actually happen is much more terrifying than the niegh unstoppable monster of myth....as it could, and does, happen.

I'm glad you guys dug it, but I have no interest in this. I'm a die-hard fan of the original and, to me, what Zombie's doing is (a.) unnecessary and (b.) watering down a great "movie monster."

You see, to me what always made Michael Myers so great is that I HAD NO IDEA WHAT MADE HIM SNAP. He's far scarier when you know ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about him, including what he really looks like.

I don't ever want to sympathize with the villain.

If you sympathize with Michael Myers, what's the point? Deep down he's just a troubled boy who never had a good homelife? Bah! Humbug!

As I said, I'm glad for you if you dug it, but I have no desire to see this one.

Carpenter's is a classic. I always appreciated the fact that you don't see a lot of blood - rather, it leaves that up to your imagination.

*SPOILER ALERT*

And why on Earth do they insist on making Laurie his sister? And how does he know who she is? I hated it when they did that in the original series of films and still don't like it now.

*END SPOILER ALERT*

Now, I really dug The Devil's Rejects but it was its own animal, not a remake of a film that helped start the slasher genre. It was like seeing a grindhouse film that somehow never got released in 1973 and got released two summers ago!

And I am not against remakes all the time (Carpenter's remake of The Thing is one of the greatest sci-fi/horror films of all time, IMHO) but Halloween, to me, just doesn't need it. I can watch the original 7 days a week and twice on Sunday, baby!

I guess Halloween is kinda sacred ground for me - like if someone ever wanted to remake Tron! abortion pills online abortion questions cytotec abortion
