Looked like he took a running hit in the face with the two arms up there too. Nearly making a squishy face at the same time against the glass.  I think after the sixth issue in colour I hope that they will expand on tron even if it is on black in white and not colour.

Not necessarily either. It's an homage to a classic Conan image by Frank Frazzeta.
As for what exactly the context of that scene... You'll have to read the book.
