I love this movie.. It's my all time fav British movie of the 80's... but there is one thing I have to address.
I was a very young kid when I saw this and I cried when I saw it for the first time. At the end of the film, Keven's parents are consumed by evil and vanish (or blow up) at the end.. that wasn't the part that got me.. it was the part that everyone left... No one cared about the kid enough to take him in.. That is what gave me nightmares as a kid..
I love this film.. but it's that little ending that I remember from my childhood that really kills me.

I love that movie too. I took that whole scene, though, as a very stylized way of letting the audience know that this whole adventure was in his mind. The scene at the end, and especially since he was left alone, represents how truly alone he is in the "real" world because his parents are so neglectful. He's retreated into this fantasy world that actually interprets itself to him in that way. A good indication of this is the reoccurring "father figure" that Sean Connery portrays. First as Agamemnon who actually adopts him, then later as the firefighter who saves him.
It is rather sad. But, alas, it's true for some kids in this world.
(Don't forget the Tron tie-in. David Warner as "Evil"  )

Silver and I both have this movie, ha ha ha.

Hey... Isn't the actor who plays Randal also is the same one who controlled R2-D2?
