Well the original cast from the first few Gen 1 episodes did. They were a brand of figures in Japan. I mean the Toy for megatron was a good guy before it was taken and adapted from Transformers.where to buy abortion pill ordering abortion pills to be shipped to house buy abortion pill online

Wow.. I didn't know that.. cool...
Back in the day, the Transformers were almost up there with the Rubix Cube as being an "intelligent toy"... Mainly because most kids would figure out how to transform the toy on their own without using instructions.

G1 PrimeMovie Prime
Your thoughts? |
I was more of a casual Transformers fan than a hardcore. I didn't see most of the episodes, only catching a handful. I enjoyed what I saw though (only seeing some of the 1st series and a few episodes of Beast Wars).
When I heard about the film being made, it sounded like it could be very cool. We all saw that Transformers-like car commercial a few years back and it worked very well.
Now seeing the redesigned look of Optimus Prime and some of the other Transformers... it's not doing anything for me at all.
It looks to me like they tried to take the design elements of the alien in the film Alien and morph it with the transforming robots of Transformers. Two awesome designs that in my opinion do not work well together.
I expected Hollywood to beef up the robots a bit in some way. Sometimes they actually do things better and cooler than the original, as in The Fly starring Jeff Goldbloom (or so I thought). But in this case, I don't care for the new design.
I've seen some really cool robotic designs that would look awesome if blended with the Transformers existing design (their original design). Our friend Sketch is an amazing artist who is always pumping out cool robot designs, several of which he's shared with me. They always blow me away with their very cool design elements, intricate and believable detailing (right down to the minute servos), and the level of personality that shows through in each.
Whatever interest I had in Transformers the film died after looking at the redesign. The redesign work turned me off. Just not digging it. I saw a preview clip somewhere on the net the other day too and I didn't care for it at all.
I don't know who's in charge anymore, but I haven't seen much that really interests me come from Hollywood in a long time. Technology keeps progressing and offering directors almost limitless possibilities in terms of visuals... and yet they try way too hard to make everything look so over-the-edge cool and bigger and badder and more with intricacies and a higher WOW-factor than ever before. These big budget, action-packed films do nothing for me these days. They're pretty much all crap to me. Of course, this "crap" that makes a bundle of money and breaks box office records each year, but polished crap is still crap to me.
Anyway, my opinion on this doesn't carry much weight. Even when I was interested in seeing the film, I would have likely just waited until it was out on DVD. Again, I was more of a casual fan, not hardcore.

I still have many of my pre-Go-Bots Machine Robo toys. I was a big collector of Japanese toys before these brands were brought to the mainstream American audience. Just don't get me started on the ridiculous name "Voltron" for instance. I still have my original "GoLion"
That's the thing though, I see so many people throw about the term "G1", and that any move from this model is a bastardization... But the original Transformers cartoon was pure bastardization anyway. Soon, there will be an entire generation of viewers and collectors who perceive the only true version of the Transformers as the movie. They won't be any more right or wrong then the fans of the original cartoon, or people like myself who saw the cartoon as an abomination. It's all in where you stand, after all.

Never hurd of anyone referring to the original Transformer series as a bastardization before. I know that they basically built a cartoon around pre-existing figures. Btw Qix77 if you want to see some of the original packaging for the Transformer toys before they were adapted for Transformers go get a book called "Transformers The Ultimate Guide" it has the original figures in that too.
People always will compaire Transformers to Generation 1 because thats what hit our screens first. Plus who can ever forget those loving characters who we grew up with. People are just afraid that this movie will destory their image of their childhood. And all they need to remember is that this isnt destroying anything, its just a updated new version of what we all know and love. Similar to Tron 2.0 an update of something we all knew and loved.
At first I hated the idea of this movie but the more I've seen and the more I've looked into it the more and more I am starting to like it. I dont see this is a continuation of Generation 1. I see this as a fresh new Transformers Generation.

As you say, it was cobbled together from several pre-existing figures. Figures that had zero connection together (hence the mismatched scale).
Imagine if a new toyline and cartoon show came out that included The Power Rangers, Batman, Megatron, Darth Vader and Harry Potter as a superhero team with all new names and origins. That's what the Transformers felt like to me. A complete bastardization of the source material. That's why any call for a strict adherence to the cartoon is senseless. It's an arbitrary starting point based on popularity, not quality.
Not that Transformers was bad. It wasn't great either. But (in opposition of many internet opinions, not anyone person inparticular) a new interpretation won't necessarily be bad simply because it's new. It all depends on execution.

In my opinion transformers was great, mostly due to the characters such as Optimus Prime. I agree with you that it is a little stupid for people to demand that the new movie should keep strict to the original cartoon. But the reason there is such a call for the movie to stick to Generation 1 is because right at the start when this movie was announced. They got Spielburg to get on the net and talk about how much this movie will be true to Generation 1 fans.
And how he is going to do this or them and that fans will be happy to see their original childhood heros on the big screen again. THIS is what I and many generation fans dissagred with. It was a simple stunt to get the generation one fanbase to go along with the movie. Why didnt they just say from the start that they were creating a whole new generation of Transformers. I think people would have accepted that and there wouldnt be this massive cry out for them to keep it gen one.
I for one am now excited about this movie, walking around and seeing Transformers (my fav thing of all time) slapped on every toy store window makes me feel like that 3 year old kid who went and saw the original Transformers movie (then I rememberd how tramatised I was when Prime died :P)
So I for one think that visually they look better and better the more you see them. I just hope it has a good script and movie plot to back it up.abortion pills online http://www.kvicksundscupen.se/template/default.aspx?abortion-questions cytotec abortion

I honestly think there would be outrage from fans of teh original cartoon regardless. Fan communities (of anything) have never really been known to take well to any adaptation of the thing they adore. And honestly, from my perspective the alterations (as I have seen from the trailer) are not significant. It seems so far that Spielberg is living up to his word.

Well I am a die hard Generation 1 Transformers fan. And the more I see the more I like and the only thing that has really changed is the look of them. They look more Alien and high tech which to be honest looks far cooler and more real if you ask me. At first I hated the change, but the more I look at it the more they do look like the originals and the more cool they are. The changes are not that bad, not too sure about the flames on Prime, but who cares about the paint job as long as the heart of the character is there.
I for one like the change now.

These are fanart. If you go on the main transformer movie forum. You can read the post and look at the concept for these fan art images. They do look very good, the guy who made them deserves a job with Bay on the movie sequals. Yeah thats right Transformers has been lined up to have 3 movies. I just hope that it will be good enough to support a sequal and that the sequals are not rushed and crappy like the Matrix sequals :P
What I do like about the movie is how smooth and complex the transformations are in the new movie. Very high detailed yet when ever you see a Transformation its very streamline and impressive.abortion pills online http://www.kvicksundscupen.se/template/default.aspx?abortion-questions cytotec abortion

Wait, what? You think Hugo Weaving sounds like a businessman?
I think someone's being a little too fanboyish here... going as far to throw insults at actors. That's not cool or fair.

Hugo Weaving is a good voice actor, I mean he was really good as "V"
I think people are too quick to think of The Matrix when reguarding Mr Weaving. I would have loved to have the original voice actor for megatron back, but I'll get to experiance that in the game so its not a total loss. I am keeping an open mind when it comes to Hugo Weaving as Megatron, we havn't seen or listened to anything that could allow us to make a decision on the subject. All I can say is just sit on the fence for the whole Megatron voice Issue until we have some leaked audio or once we have seen this movie.

I want to see this film. I'm not expecting much in the plot department. I'm mainly interested in seeing these complexe designs move and transform on the silverscreen. I love robots and draw a lot of them so a film like this is bound to get my creative gears churning in some form.
