Lode Runner

on Monday, June, 11, 2007 5:59 AM
Has anybody played this game?

I played the original a few days ago, for a game made in 1983 it was quite good.

I haven't played Lode Runner: The Legend Returns yet, but I plan on doing so.

I do own Lode Runner 2 (came out in 1998, got it in 1999) and it's one of the best games I've played order abortion pill http://unclejohnsprojects.com/template/default.aspx?morning-after-pill-price where to buy abortion pill

Lode Runner ROCKED!

I had it for my Apple //c back in the day. I played this one for long durations!

I think this was the first game that I ever got to use a level editor with as well. I spent many hours making my own levels to challenge myself and friends with. I often incorporated themes or spelled out words in the bricks in the levels I created. I made dozens of levels on my custom level disc.

Funny you should mention this because I was thinking about it not long ago. I think I want to spell out some words in Lode Runner levels for fun. I've still got my Apple //c AND Lode Runner disc. I've even still got my custom level disc.

Man - I really feel like playing it now. Unfortunately, my old analogue joystick isn't working so well. It was starting to fail back in the early 90's - the Y-axis was heavy on the down position and wouldn't register all the way up anymore. I wish it were correctable.

Hey todd here is a replicant of the game but it has been named under the linux variant of Kgoldrunner. http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d177/harishankar/kgoldrunner.jpg
I think you can get the source code for it and compile it under windows if you have a compiler handy and close by. I don't know if it will compile under C# or under C++ in windows.

Here is a screen from Lode Runner 2, from the wacky world.

Also, if your joystick isn't working correctly Todd, shouldn't be be possible to get a new one from somewhere?

Same here. In fact, I got on Vice64 last night and played it and enjoyed it more than ever. When the 90's version came out, I really didn't like it at all. I didn't even like the arcade and NES version of it either. A fine example of C64's supreme and undying culture.

I still haven't had a chance to play this one, but I will do so now..

[EDIT] - Ok... I'm dumb.. For some reason I thought the version everyone was talking about was a flash game. Sometimes I'm a good example of someone who needs to pay attention to detail... :P

Well, after googling around on the internet, I found out that one of the creators of Lode Runner Online: The Mad Monks Revenge (an enhanced version of The Legend Returns) has a website and has the whole non-cd version of the game!

Played for a while, and I'm really enjoying it! Lode Runner games rock!

Does anyone remember Montezuma's revenge for the PC. I remember playing that on the computers at school and of course the Cheesy olympics version all on a amber monitor and a 356 k of ram.

Am I the ONLY one who played, loved, and made many custom many levels for Lode Runner on an Apple computer?

The game was originally programed for the Apple 2 and even designed on one (or so I read).

Apple computers were not very good gaming machines, but this game played beautifully on the Apple 2. EVERYONE I knew who had an Apple had this game. Actually, I was the only one of my nerd friends to have a C64 - all my friends had Apple 2 computers (and one guy had an Atari 800). I was the last of my friends to get an Apple (a year after getting my C64).

Anyway, I never had the C64 version, though I have played it on an emulator (just last night, in fact). It plays great on the C64 of course (games generally did), but some of the sounds that were on the Apple version are missing. What's that all about? C64 has that beautiful SID chip and they left out the sound of the bad guys falling in the holes and spawning? Shame on whoever ported this game! Ok, the beating a level music was cooler on the C64 than the Apple sound, but otherwise they missed some stuff. I hate when they do that.

Back to my original thought - any other programs out there who's memories of Lode Runner revolve around an Apple computer? Just curious.

I've never actually played Lode Runner on an ACTUAL apple computer, but I've played it.

It was a good game, sometimes it took me a while to realize "wait...those ladders spell Lode Runner!"

In unrelated news: for years I've been forced to play Lode Runner 2 without the original CD (lost the original cd a few years ago, had to download the game off the internet to play it more) but I managed to get the last copy off Amazon.co.uk I'll post pics when the game arrives

Also, if any of you programs wants to get the game, you can get it off here, although I'm not sure if this site ships to Europe.

Mmmmm Lode Runner

I've played various incarnations over the years both legit and clones. I always seem to run into the problem of getting a level that seems unbeatable lol.

I think the last version of the game I played was the original Game Boy version

It's amazing how an unspoken classic like this has really been yet another icon to bring us all together. Amazing... I'm also interested in what else we will discuss in the future..

It's called Hyper Lode Runner and was on the original Game Boy. I picked it up a couple years back to play on my GBA.
Here's the link for it off of IGN:
