Reminds me of the good old BBS days as well. I know there are still some BBS's still active along side the net as well. One program that I do know of for the PC side is called Synchonet. It is a program that can be run on a PC and you can telnet to it or use the option of the web pages in order to do that similar to like what this program does for the atari programs. Very neat to still see running in todays modern world.

VROOOOOOOOOMMMM!!!

To compute or not to compute that is the question at hand. Tis nobler to compile in C++ or in TASM.

I was told that BBS stood for "Bulletin Board System" (which it does), but I always called them "Bill Board Sites".... Which ,of course, means the same thing.

I'm going to do a search and see if someone is still running a Commodore BBS. I've been told that they still exist so I'm going to do a search...

THe thing that I find weird with The internet and BBS in general. Part of the internet has spun off of what the BBS were in the 70's, 80's, and partly of the 90's until the internet went public. And that was the general message boards that were local to what we considered ISP where everyone lives. Where you can post on their newsgroups or the general boards that can be created on either a paid or free web hosting servers. You figure that the BBS's would have been even more populated if some of the programs being used from hen would be able to hook onto the internet with a 56k modem or with todays DSL or cable modem. I had only found one app that would still use both cable modem and a regular plain vanilla internal or external modems that are on board some comuters today.

Back in my C64 days I had a modem called 'Mighty Mo' and it's transfer rate was like less than 1kbytesps. Well... Maybe it was more than 1k. I can't remember... but it was considered rather fast at the time but there weren't any gfx other than ASCII art or something close to it.

I had ran up my parents phone bills for making calls to Germany so that I could download pirated games (I really didn't know much better back then). My dad was soooo pissed and I had to spend an entire season's worth of construction work for my dad's business without pay.

My dad was a self employed carpenter and I started working for him when I was 11 years old. That was the only way I could afford computer stuff back then so I begged him for a job to make some money... and I was paid in cash... but I had already owned a Commodore 64 which I got for Christmas in 1993.

I have a lot of great memories from back then. I miss the 80's.
