Wow! That's one SWEET Atari commercial!

I've never seen that before. If I had seen that back in the day, I would have flipped out over the amazing 3D graphics in it (well, amazing for then). That awesome!

Loved the Phil Hartman Activision Hockey commercial too. Never knew Phil did an Atari commercial. Cool. And I miss him too. He was one of the comedy greats and went way too soon.

I've seen both the commercials before, and the Yar's Revenge one IS wicked for its time. I bet that got A LOT of people's attention. The Pole Position commercial also kicked ass. The people who marketed Atari were geniuses.

The Ice Hockey one is cool, too. I was amazed when I found out that was Phil Hartman in it. R.I.P. Phil.

Yep... but something happened a while later. I think it was Time Warner who said some like "People will buy any game" that destroyed Atari... Then the last good comercial from them as E.T. .... and it was the worse game in history.

Yeah, Warner (which owned Atari for most of its existence) shot themselves in the foot eventually. Just like Sony now, Atari then became arrogant and thought people would keep buying their product no matter what.

Remember the old urban myth that Atari buried millions of E.T. cartridges in a landfill? Well, it turns out to be true. It really did happen. And not only did they dump E.T. cartridges, but also Pac-Man, and even other games and Atari 2600 units.
