My first day Teaching

on Monday, November, 13, 2006 12:52 PM
Dunno if I ever mentioned this but I started teaching today. Its my placement year so I was kinda nervous

My first day went okay, had some ups and downs.

Period 1 with the year 9 class went really well. All they had to do was create a logo for a company called "Downloadable Tunes" to use in business letters, memos, and newsletters. Told them to use fireworks and although they have never used fireworks and I didnt demo it to them, they were producing work that was better than I could do :-p (so I'd better brush up on the workings of fireworks lol)

Period 2 with the year 10s was my bad lesson lol. I was prepared for it however because they are bottom set and most are low ability. My Mentor said I did a really good lesson though but I had to have 3 pupils removed from the class. Plus they thought it would be fun to mix their names around because I didnt know who they were. So I treated them like a year 6 class and made them write name tags out and stick it on their tops.

Period 3 with my year 7 class was the best out of the lot. I think it might be because year 7s are still scared of teachers lol. Paid full attention and none of them figured out what Dyhidrogen Monoxide was (which was a good thing because my lesson would have fallen to pieces if they figured it out).

Team taught year 13 in period 4 and 5 didnt have to do anything just offer some support. They were building websites so I was interested and couldnt help giving some input to the students.order abortion pill http://unclejohnsprojects.com/template/default.aspx?morning-after-pill-price where to buy abortion pill

Congrats on your first day teaching, laphtiya. Sounds like you had a pretty well rounded experience.

My father was a teacher (just retired last year). It's one tough gig and doesn't pay well. So you really have to want to be a teacher. I'm sure you'll do well at it as you grow and learn in the process of teaching. Yes, the teacher is constantly learning as well.

My Dad got out of it when he did because he was doing a lot more babysitting and disciplining in the later years that he was teaching. Each new class was more misbehaved that the last, the school's politics and angry parents who just wanted their kids passed regardless of their accomplishments (or lack there of) really made him hate his job. He told many nasty stories and I can't blame him for getting out when he did. I wouldn't have lasted as long to be honest!

I sure hope the students (AND their parents) are better behaved where you are than they are around these parts.

Good luck to you.

Teaching ICT, its day 3 now and so far so good. I messed up my timing for lesson 1 with the year 9 class today (these are different to the ones I taught on my first day).

I have two year 7 classes next one at 11:15 which is in 30 mins and another at 1pm. Teaching the same lesson to these classes. Gonna educate them on the dangers of Dyhydrogen Monoxide lol

http://www.dhmo.org <- posted this link before.

In my first year 7 class no one got what DHMO was which was good for me lol lets see if year 7s still talk to eachother :-p
