"Release the Kraken" opened last night in San Francisco.
It is original comedy which combines elements from "Clash of the Titans" with "Clerks"

Truth is, I'm one of the co-authors and director.
The "Clerks"-like fan-boy banter that the two main characters spout out is peppered greatly with Tron references.

When confronted by a Two-headed Scientologist (modern-day representation of Dioskilos, the two-headed dog), Percy (a.k.a. Perseus) uses one of the golden gifts he'd received from the Gods; an 'original TRON Frisbee.' A special spot-light is lit on Percy; he holds the disc aloft in the classic Tron I/O tower pose and exclaims; "I'll never be deressed into the master control program!" He then throws the disc, which the two-headed Scientologist "dog" excitedly runs after...

Percy's side-kick tells him that he just threw away the best collector's item he had ever owned. He replies that; "Yeah, well, at some point you realize there are bigger things than material possessions…"

I took a cue from this, and last night on opening night, I opened, and gave away to the cast my complete set of TRON trading cards as gifts.

The show runs for another 12 performances until August 26th.

To top it off; there's going to be a midnight showing of "TRON" on the big screen at the Castro Theatre on Saturday the 19th. So, if you're a Tron fan, and anywhere near San Francisco, come check out "Release the Kraken" and/or the full screen showing of "Tron" at the beautiful Castro Theatre.

Sound great. Maybe we can get you to videotape the Tron part of it and put it on youtube? San Fran is a bit too far way for me to come see it in person, otherwise I probably would.
