Tron Machinima

on Saturday, July, 15, 2006 10:27 AM
I've recently obtained the software to produce a machinima series, and i'm contemplating using the Tron 2.0 engine.
The only obstacles left are:
1] Figuring out how to work Tron tools [map editor etc..], reeeeaally need help there. [So I can create new maps to flow with the storyline].

2] I just lost my old computer, so I'll need to wait for another one :S [and I just resigned my job at subway, so im at a slight loss of income...]
Although I do have webhosting solutions! w00t.

Anyway, just thought i'd let you guys know. Hopefully something should kick-off within the next few months.

Well, my FAQ will be back very soon.

As for the tutorials, they're available here on TRON-Sector in the File Archives. But they won't help with making machinima. That was way too complex a topic to cover in beginner's map tutorials.

It's actually quite possible I wont need to make any *phew*, due to the recent addition [are they recent?] of derrez maps etc. They seem pretty high quality from what i've seen of one or two of them. Considering Red vs. Blue was filmed primarily in ONE map, I probably should be fine

The backup/side idea is to make a Tron webcomic using screenshots, which i've experimented with before hence: Modern arms [http://modernarms.smackjeeves.com/].

I really must get round to bookmarking your FAQ Red.order abortion pill abortion pill buy online where to buy abortion pillabortion pills online abortion questions cytotec abortion

any arguments if i unoffically mirror them on my webserver..?
as i have also edited some of the XML code for the map making videos to a much bigger resolution to make it easier to see

800x600 makes it alot simpler

any arguments? since its a community thing it wouldnt hurt to get a user here or there to addon to it?

Nope, I don't mind that.

Hmm, well: 1) I didn't find stretching it to 800x600 really improved visibility, 2) I did it that size so it would easily fit in a browser window (not to mention cut the file size).

since its a community thing it wouldnt hurt to get a user here or there to addon to it?
This is the only part I take issue with. I'm not against people making video tutorials, but if so please don't associate them with mine. I still had plans to make more, depending on the level of interest. Up until now, the interest level was pretty dead.

As long as it's clear that other people's videos aren't a continuation of mine, then it's okay.

I know how they did it. So do a few other people, like Meatsack and win3k for example.

It's not that difficult, actually. But it IS time-consuming. There is a lot of trial and error involved, to get everything to look and perform just right. There are also limits in what you can do.

Sorry. I missed this post on my last visit.

Well, I'm not prepared to write out the lengthy description required to explain what needs to be done.

However, I can point you in the right direction to get you started.

NOLF 1 Cutscene Tutorial
This was written by my buddy Spydave. There are some differences since NOLF 1 was done on an older version of the engine, but most of it still applies to Tron 2.0.
