I just got for the Game Boy Advance.
SO worth the money. I'm not that far in the game, but I can still see that the game reeks with awesomeness+Coolness+Nottoohardicity+TRONicity+a hint of cool minigames (Tank Part? Hacking Part? Nuff said). The other game I bought, however, was not even worth $6.29. Metroid just plain SUCKS. Mental Sector |

Glad you like it. It was one of the last games I worked on at BVG. The guys who put it together did a really good job. DaveTRON

The mini games (not the Tron emulator) and lightcycles are good to take with you if you need some entertainment but can't dedicate large amounts for time (waiting for a haircut, for example)....
I still have not had the courage to take my PSP out of the house, so Tron 2.0 on the GBA is good portable fun.

Fretnoize,
Having been on the other side at BVG, I can say that it was more their fault.
I certainly wan't in any position to affect it at that point, having had it's testing reponsibility taken away from me entirely.
I think it could have been as great as 2.0 for PCabortion pills online http://www.kvicksundscupen.se/template/default.aspx?abortion-questions cytotec abortion

we tried... really...
But yes, you guys have every right to be upset with a buggy build. |
Believe me, for those of us who tried to follow what was going on behind the scenes, we KNOW it wasn't your fault. Or Climax's fault. BVG rushed the game, and used a dubious company to do the QA. Rather than do testing in-house. (Why? To save a few bucks? From what I understand, BVG paid the Xbox assurance people a lot of money anyway.)
And I tried to like the game. Really, I did. I was so disappointed that the Xbox features didn't show up in the PC version. But I was willing to buy an Xbox and the Xbox version to support Tron and get those extra features. (How do you get those stupid fans to pay for something, indeed.)
But when I saw all the things that had been dumbed down or removed to "streamline" it, not to mention the bugs! I mean, after a while of playing it, the game just crashes and gives me a disc read error. This happens every time. I also found a showstopper bug that would prevent someone from finishing the game, if they didn't save often enough.
there was even a much better build than what was released. It was the the next build after the release build, but we were down to the wire with time and the one released somehow passed through testing and was accepted. |
Wow. There's something I didn't know.
Looks like BVG didn't learn anything from the disasters on a couple of the PC version patches. There was one they released to File Planet early, that wasn't supposed to have been released. Then a few days later they released the proper one. But by then, it was too late. The damage had been done. The File Planet release made absolutely no mention of XP being a requirement in order to update. So naturally, a lot of people were very upset at this.
Shipping an xbox game in the same month, let alone on the same day, as halo would be enough to convince anyone not to make xbox games... I don't know why they did that... |
I remember when we found out the release date of the Xbox version, Riley and myself told Cliff that BVG was insane. They were committing suicide. It's so painfully obvious that they were trying to pass off the game as some sort of Halo clone, trying to ride on the coattails of its success. But the plan backfired, horribly.
Someone else suggested that BVG should have held off and released it in time for Christmas. Not only would that have allowed for more time to get the game right instead of rushing it, but it would have given it breathing room so it wouldn't have been completely overshadowed by Halo.
I'd love to work on another Tron game, especially where there's a lot more creative input rather than just doing a port |
I'd really like to see that happen.

I was irritated right off the bat with it because of how it freaked out when you enabled the Tron "glow". At first I thought it was my X-Box (I had just gotten it), but I don't think that was the case. Anyone else have problems with enabling the "glow"?

I didn't have problems with the glow, interestingly enough. But I have the dreaded disc read error, that people were talking about. It always starts off fine at first, but after an hour or so it crashes and I have to restart. And you know how long the load times are . . .
Other than that, and several other bugs, any other problems I have are personal beefs. (As in, why did they change this?! Why did they change that?!) There are so many subtle, and not so subtle, alterations to the Single Player game. Mainly for the worse.
The improved Multiplayer is the game's only saving grace. But the problem is, Killer App's Multiplayer is even more dead than the PC's.
And you'd think - at least for those who have Xbox Live - BVG could have released a patch for Killer App to fix the bugs. But no, heaven forbid that.

Once I got past my first experience using a Tank or Recognizer (I'm not a big fan of the way these parts were implemented) in the GBA version, I started to appreciate the game more and more the longer I played it.
I think my favorite addition is the hacking puzzles. Now . . . if only they weren't so deviously difficult.
The mini-games are pretty cool too. Though I find the arcade emulations very hard to control. I'd probably use MAME for those, instead.
All-in-all, I was too quick to dismiss it in the past. It's a nice game and definitely worth getting if you have a GBA.

If it's any consolation....
I am playing "Destroy All Humans" on the PS2 and it's equally as bad.
1) Repeated crashes, usually at super critical times when I am about to finish a mission
2) Sound missing, dialogue talked over, etc.
3) Places where my character can get "trapped", like falling into a wall or getting stuck behind something. So far I have solved those by setting a bomb off underneath myself, but I take a big health hit.
4) Saving issues. Have been told more than once "No Space On Memory Card" when that is clearly untrue.
Maybe THQ outsourced to the same QC as BVG
I probably won’t even finish this game. Not for the bugs, but because it’s not what I thought it was.
