The screening was AWESOME! It was nice to see it on the big screen again... its a totally different experience than watching it on a monitor.
It was nice to see Steven Lisberger, Richard Taylor, Bill Kroyer and the surprise VIP, Bruce Boxleitner.

I posted my wrapup in the News on the front page. It was a great evening and I met some cool folks, including our very own Zook.
Someone just sent me some pictures they snuck at the event that I will post tonight.

It was really nice to see Tron again on the Big Screen! I was happy to see that it was a nice turn out for the movie. Hopefully next time I can plan better and hook up with everyone!

Whether you just joined to post about the TRON 70mm screening, or intend to pop-in regularly - it's great to have you aboard. If you stick around, I think you'll find that TRON-Sector is probably one of the friendliest sites on the net... and TRONiest!
Man - I REALLY wish I could have joined you all for the BIG event! It must have been really cool to see TRON in 70mm glory AND get to hear Mr. Lisberger (and co.) talk about the film before the show. It would be great if someone has some video of this even to share!

no problem Zook. Mor and I ran a little late getting to the theater, we quietly snuck in the back of the crowd. Good to know that a few of us from the 2.0 Grid were there!

Am I reading this right? You LEFT the theatre in the middle of a TRON screening? Aw man... I know we can all quote the movie word-for-word, but it's a rare thing for most of us to see it on the silver screen anymore. Maybe not so much for you, lucky duck. Yeah... I'm jealous. Wish I had been there.

The screening was fun.
Load and I always try to check out the local screenings for Tron when possible.
We looked for you Zook and Dave.
To bad we could not meet early,
Traffic was bad for us after getting off from work.
Next time we will meet Zook!
On a side note,
Aside from Load and I,
Did anyone else feel the print was a bit green and a bit grainy?
Its only been 2 years,
Was a little surprised by this.

I mentioned that to Dave and he was like wtf? but I realize now he had left... wtf? Just kidding. He was kicking it at dinner with guys and caught the show at the el capitan so it was probably no big deal.
Yes the first few scenes of the film were pretty bad. Too dark and way to green. (you could hardly see CLU's tank in the canyon for example & all the interior shots look like they were shot under flourescent lights) It was great to see it on the big screen, but I like the color and touched-up clean quality of the DVD best... purtists be damned. film is film. imperfect at best.
Dave told me Lisberger can't stand to watch the film anymore and always wants to go monkey in the projection booth. I can see why. The brightness and color balance is critical to enjoy the full detail of the film.
Because of the "color" issues (it's been so long, maybe we've been tainted by the DVD) what I enjoyed best was experienceing the music and sound effects in a theater. Intense.
Dave - don't worry about the meet and greet thing not happening I enjoyed the program greatly as it was planned.

I saw it like 7 times at the El Capitan screenings, so I've seen it. Steven isn't comfortable watching it, and I prefer to hang with him and Richard, so I went with them.

When it comes to TRON, I've been quite lucky. I appeciate every moment of it. I have lots of frieinds because of it, a career because of it, and perhaps a future because of it. We'll see.
